This was the night that we officially met one another! We were both a part of Saint Vincent College's Festival of Praise music ministry. EJ played guitar and I would also sing and play guitar. FOP's are held once a month at the SVC student chapel. These evenings highlight talks, testimonials, and praise and worship adoration with the focus on our most Blessed Sacrament. On this night, we were setting up the music equipment when we both introduced ourselves. During the set up and clean up, we could not stop chatting with one another. There was no doubt that we had an immediate connection! Less than a week later, we went on our first date to a local bar, Sharky's, for a drink.

Just a little over two weeks later, we made it official! There was no denying that we were just better together. After a few dates, meeting each other's friends, and simply enjoying every moment with one another, we knew that our connection was something special. After going to Mass on this Sunday, we went out to brunch, and decided to go fishing at Keystone State Park. We spent the afternoon more or less fishing and more-so just enjoying each other's company. We took a break from fishing and sat on a picnic table a few feet from the water. As we looked out at the water enjoying the beautiful spring day, we knew that we became fast friends and our feelings towards each other were ever growing. We officially started dating!

Beginning a new relationship before summer break is historically the worst timing for college students. Although our timing was not the most ideal, it never stopped us from traveling to be with one another. About three weeks later, Marcy's brother, Andrew, was getting married. Andrew and Genna were so generous when they asked Marcy if she wanted to invite her new boyfriend to the wedding. EJ was brave enough to meet every one of Marcy's closest family members and friends within three weeks of dating! With that said, this was the funnest wedding that we have ever attended (until ours!!) and a day devoted to celebrating the love of Andrew and Genna while embracing our new budding relationship.

SUMMER 2021

The summer of '21 was filled with adventure and fun! We love recalling the summer when we first started dating. Even though we lived about two hours from each other, we made the most of it. We would spend weekend after weekend, meeting each other's family and friends, introducing each other to our favorite places in our hometowns, spending as much time outdoors as possible, and making music!

SAINT VINCENT COLLEGE 2021-2022

The SVC academic year of 2021-2022 was EJ's senior year! We have so many amazing memories of this time at college from hanging out at EJ's apartment with all of his roommates to the Wednesday night Falbo's student nights to now being the leaders of Festival of Praise to the long, late-night talks on the swinging bench outside of the Wimmer dorm to EJ making dinner for Marcy and her friends to the after night-class Sheetz runs to our weekly holy hour in the student chapel and to every moment in between. Saint Vincent College will always be a special place to us because it is not only the place that brought us together, but it is also the place that led us to many blessed friendships!

Summer 2022

We celebrated our first year of dating, and EJ graduated in May of 2022! Even though this was a joyful season by closing one chapter and opening a new one, EJ's graduation meant that he would be starting his full-time position this summer and relocating to Elkton, MD (over four hours away from Marcy). Long distance is a daunting challenge for all relationships. Although we were no exception to that feeling, we never allowed a year of long distance to put a damper on our relationship! We made sure to have another memorable summer together!

Marcy's Final Year of college 2022-2023

Beginning in late August, Marcy started her final year at Saint Vincent College. Marcy was beginning to buckle down on her future career as a teacher, and EJ was falling into a rhythm of his steady 9-5 job working for W. L. Gore. With the demands of Marcy's student teaching as well as her additional classes and EJ's new job, we learned to navigate this new season of our relationship. Our late-night talks on the Wimmer swing bench turned into countless hours chatting over FaceTime, our five minute walk in between our dorms turned into four and a half hour car rides, and our after night-class Sheetz runs turned into virtual Chick-Fil-A dates (we added a photo for reference). None the less, perseverance is a common theme throughout the entirety of our relationship. Not only did we just make it over 16 months of long distance, we made this season a joyful experience and bearing much fruit.

We are engaged! This picture was taken moments after EJ got down on one knee, and our faces say it all! Many tears of joy were shed by us both! After months of EJ dropping hints and countless conversations about our future together, the moment finally came when both of us get to officially begin preparing for our forever. EJ proposed after the Good Friday Mass in the side chapel that held all of the Easter Vigil flowers at Marcy's home parish, St. Mary's Church. The day in which EJ decided to pop the question may be a surprise to most. Good Friday is a day of mourning because Christ made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross by giving up His life for the salvation of the world. Although the suffering that Christ endured on the cross for our sins does make this day solemn, Good Friday is actually the climax of the greatest love story this world has ever known. Christ laid down His life for His Bride, the Church! In a marriage, we are called to love just as Christ did. In St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he instructs husbands to "love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." Knowing this truth, EJ could not think of a better day than to ask Marcy to be his wife as he promises to strive to love her just as big as Christ loves us.

Where are we now?

Right before Marcy's graduation one month later, she committed to her full-time position as a second grade teacher at a Catholic, classical school, Regina Luminis Academy, in Berwyn, PA. She also got a summer job working with high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities which allowed her to get a studio apartment in West Chester, PA a month after her graduation. EJ was able to relocated to West Chester, PA as well because of the flexibility of his job and resides in our soon-to-be home sweet home (i.e. apartment). We have loved exploring our new area and making so many wonderful friends! The months and months of long distance had finally come to an end! Every sacrifice of love is worth while because being able to spend a lifetime with our best friend will be a dream come true! We cannot wait for our forever to begin and to celebrate our marriage with all those that we love! Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we prepare for our marriage.

Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for us.

God bless you,

EJ and Marcy
