Their story began when they started working together in the Fall of 2019 at Corus Entertainment in Hamilton. Brian was an on-air host at Y108 and Ekta worked in the Promotions Department. Fun Fact: According to Brian, Ekta doesn't remember the first time they actually met (according to Brian it was outside the elevators by the promotions office) but if you ask Ekta, she'll tell you exactly when she first met him - weeks later!

Shortly after, they travelled to Mexico together for a radio promotion where Brian was broadcasting his show live for a week with a group of contest winners. Ekta was in charge of making sure he showed up for his show each day (aka Babysitting! Remember, they were at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico so you can imagine the high risk situation they were in!).

That week built the foundation of what was to be a great friendship. Fast forward a few months and the Big C hit - COVID. With Ekta now working from home, they continued to communicate over text and video chat - their friendship continued to grow with no other distractions since everyone was stuck indoors!

It wasn't until November 2021, that they realized there was more to their friendship and had something really special between them . A few months later, Brian attended Ekta's family friend's wedding and was put to the ultimate test - could he handle meeting 482,589 Patel's in one night?! Luckily, he passed with flying colours and was quickly embraced by the Patel clan!

Brian's family warmly welcomed Ekta as well (another Fun Fact: the first time his parents met Ekta at a work event when they were still just friends, his mom said to him "oh, she's cute! wink wink!)". It's like they knew...

Through life's ups and downs that would follow, their steadfast support, respect and loyalty for each other and their families carried them through to bring them to where they are today - about to be newlyweds.
