Alex and Elaina both began attending Luther Preparatory School in the fall of 2017. They had talked here and there throughout their first 3 years of school but never really got to know each other very well.

On a whim, Elaina decided to ask Alex to their last Sadie's dance. Alex, who had had a secret crush on Elaina since the beginning of senior year, was elated at the opportunity. After the dance, they talked more and more and began dating in mid-February.

Alex and Elaina both began attending Wisconsin Lutheran College in the fall of 2021. Alex declared his major in biology, with a minor in chemistry. Elaina declared a double major in psychology and neuroscience. Throughout college, their relationship grew as they made new friends and spent more time together.

On May 23, 2023, Alex and Elaina went to Chicago on a day trip to celebrate the first few days of summer. After reassuring Elaina that he wasn't going to propose that day, Alex asked her to marry him at the Chicago Cultural Center (the old Chicago public library) where they had gone for Elaina's birthday the year before. Elaina said yes and they spent the rest of the day in Chicago with her mom, sister, and friends who had made the trip down to surprise her.

Alex and Elaina are enjoying wedding planning as they continue their junior year of college.
