Our wedding will be taking place in Vitry-la-Ville, France! This small town is located about 75 miles east of Paris, in the Champagne Region of France. The nearest larger town is Châlons-en-Champagne, just to the north. Châlons is where the closest train station is located and where we recommend our wedding guests to stay.

Luckily, France has excellent public transportation and all of our guests can reach our wedding venue from Paris without the need of renting a car. We ask that guests get themselves to Châlons-en-Champagne via train (this town has the closest train station to our venue) and we will provide bus transportation from Châlons to our venue in Vitry-la-Ville on the day of the wedding. We recommend that our guests stay in Châlons (hotel recommendations are farther down on this page) as it is easiest to travel to from Paris and has adequate lodging, restaurant, and transportation options.

We strongly recommend downloading the Google Maps app onto your phone to use for directions. This app can provide very detailed directions, prices, and timetables for public transportation. It honestly makes traveling in foreign countries very easy and is probably better than the instructions we have below!

HOW TO REACH THE WEDDING VENUE IN VITRY-LA-VILLE:

Step 1: Paris Airport CDG to Paris Gare de l'Est (City Center)

Most flights into Paris will be arriving at CDG airport. The airport is a little ways from the city center, and you will need to travel into the city where the major train stations are located in order to catch a train to Châlons. After clearing immigration, follow the signs to the trains. You'll be looking to take "RER B" into the city. You can use a self-service kiosk to purchase a ticket. Choose "Gare de l'Est" or "Gare du Nord" as your destination. (Gare de l'Est is a short walk from Gare du Nord, so it doesn't really matter which one you end up at). Trains depart very frequently and will cost $15-20 per person, and it is about a 45 minute ride. This is where most tourists will be headed so there is plenty of signage and help along the way.

*If you are stopping to spend any time in Paris, you'll still want to follow these instructions and take RER B from CDG airport to Gare de l'Est (City Center). You can always take a taxi or rent a car, but that will be much more expensive.

Step 2: Paris Gare de l'Est to Châlons-en-Champagne

After arriving at Gare de l'Est, you'll need to travel on a different train to Châlons. There are a few nonstop trains from Gare de l'Est throughout the day, and plenty of options with one or two transfers. The cost is approximately $40 per person and the journey will take 1.5-2 hours. It is recommended that you purchase these tickets in advance, as they are likely more expensive to buy last-minute at the train station. Trainline.com is a great website to search and purchase tickets (they also have a mobile app). You can also purchase tickets directly from the railway company at SNCF.com. These train tickets can be saved onto your phone and scanned digitally, so no need to print them out at home unless you'd like to!

Once arriving at the Châlons train station, the city center (and our recommended hotels) are about a 15-minute walk. Buses are available, but it is honestly tremendously simpler to just walk.

Here are some screenshots from the Trainline website that show what your journey should look like. Make sure to select the "Châlons-en-Champagne" station, as a few other stations have similar names. If you are not taking a direct train and need to transfer, the most common stations to transfer at are Reims and Champagne-Ardenne.

Step 3: Châlons-en-Champagne to the venue in Vitry-la-Ville

Congratulations! Now you've done all the hard work of navigating and can sit back and relax while we transport you to and from the venue in Vitry-la-Ville on the day of the wedding. Our transportation company, Bardy Autocars, will pick everyone up in a passenger bus in front of Hotel le Renard/Hotel Ibis Styles at 2pm. Please be outside ready to board the bus a few minutes before this time. If you are not staying at our recommended hotels, or are arriving in Châlons on the day of the wedding, then please arrive plenty early so you do not miss the transportation. It is about a 25-minute drive to our venue in Vitry-la-Ville. The bus will arrive at the venue around 2:30pm and the wedding will begin promptly at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

After the wedding festivities, the bus will transport guests on a return trip back to the same location in Châlons-en-Champagne, departing the venue at 11pm.

We understand that individual guests may have their own desired times to depart the venue. We have selected 11pm as the time for our transportation company to return guests to Châlons, as it will be appropriate for most guests. Rental cars and rideshare apps are available should guests desire to depart at their own selected time. Parking is available at the venue should guests choose to rent a car and drive themselves.
