The first time Elena and Troy met was one of those moments when life decides to smack you in the face… literally. Let’s set the scene: Elena was eighteen, it was a beautiful October night, and she was at one of her first college parties at University of Maine at Farmington. Soccer was in full season, and she was surrounded by her teammates. The music was loud, the tequila was cheap, and the energy was undying.


Fast forward to what was inevitable for a party in the middle of downtown - the police arrived and the party was shut down. In the chaos of 75 underage students running out the back door of the apartment, Elena lost her friends, her flask, and apparently, her footing. While shuffling through a doorway, she tripped on what can only be called fate and smacked her face directly into the back of a boy in front of her. He turned around, thinking he just got shoved from behind, only to see it was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on. Their gazes connected and the rest of the night faded away; they have spent every day together since. 


That night was October 19th, 2019.


Three years later, October 19th, 2022, Troy and Elena were sitting on the sands of their favorite beach in Bar Harbor when he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
