In August 2022, Elena moved to Logan, Utah, feeling an unexpected pull to attend Utah State University instead of her original plan to go to BYU. She didn’t know anyone in Logan and had never even been there before but trusted her instincts and took a chance. Meanwhile, Harrison decided to transfer from UVU to Utah State to spend time with his best friend, Carter, before Carter left on his mission that winter.

Their paths first crossed through mutual connections. Elena visited a friend from home who had also moved to Logan, only to find that her friend’s neighbors were none other than Harrison, Carter, and their roommates. A small-world connection emerged: Carter and Harrison were close friends with Elena’s cousins that lived in Utah.

This serendipitous meeting quickly turned into a close friendship. They shared adventures like flag football, trips to Yellowstone, hot tubbing, gym sessions, and countless deep conversations. Over time, their group of friends started to drift apart, but Elena and Harrison grew closer. Harrison cooked for Elena between her classes, and she grew fond of his family, often spending weekends with them.

Despite her growing feelings, Harrison initially saw her as just a friend. However, during a challenging time for Elena, Harrison showed unwavering support, even calling her family to ensure she got the help she needed. Elena moved in with her Aunt Mandy to focus on her health, and Harrison began driving 2 ½ hours every weekend to see her. Late-night conversations with Mandy often extended into the early hours, creating a bond that hinted at something deeper.

Eventually, Harrison began to open up about his feelings. With the encouragement (and some suspicion) from Elena’s uncle, Harrison finally admitted he felt the same way. Though cautious at first, given their families’ close ties, they went on their first date on May 20, 2023—and started dating that same day. Their last first kiss came while watching Narnia at Mandy’s house, a bit after they started dating.

Shortly after starting to date, the couple moved to Provo, Utah, to pursue their educational goals. Elena is attending BYU while Harrison is studying at UVU. They’re loving this new chapter of life together as they balance their studies and plan for their future!

Traveling together became an essential part of their love story, from their first trip as friends to Yellowstone to their first couple’s trip to Florida. Over time, they explored California, Disney World, and shared holidays with each other’s families. In the summer of 2024, Harrison proposed to Elena at Anna Maria Beach in Florida, surrounded by her family in a moment filled with so much happiness!

Through every step of their journey, Elena and Harrison have seen God’s love reflected in their relationship. Harrison makes Elena feel safe, cherished, and inspired to be her best self, while Elena brings out Harrison’s warmth and authenticity.
