Our Wedding

Elin and Alex met in the Fall of 2013 at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. How the time flies when you're having fun! They bonded over a shared sense of humor and a love of driving around Asheville, NC listening to music and going on adventures. The skyline of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the twangy, echoey indie-music of 98.1 The River, the late nights working at the library, the symphony of kooky characters...Alex and Elin fell in love with their "home" city. From North Carolina they journeyed together to the chilly Madison, Wisconsin, a charming college town with a big, beautiful lake and sidewalks everywhere. They made their small apartment near the UW-Madison campus a home and refuge during the pandemic years. They supported each other and learned that their love for each other was strong enough to endure high stress and tough times.&nbsp; In 2022 they returned to Greensboro where they introduced more love to their family in the form of a quirky, shy, goofy, lovely little Beagle-mix named Gordy. Alex and Elin and Gordy could not be happier that they all found each other in this wide, wacky world, and cannot wait for more adventures to come. Thank you all so much for reading and sharing our joy with us, we love and appreciate each and every one of you so much.

Kendall has known the bride for 28 years, and they have been the best of friends since the first day they met. 

Kendall is known as a friend to, advocate for, and healer of animals, dedicated to her patients and speaking up for them when they can't speak up for themselves. She was responsible for bringing sweet Gordy into Alex and Elin's lives. 

She is also a fast friend to anyone she meets, a Dungeons and Dragons nerd, and queen of the Karaoke stage. The bride is honored to have Kendall as her best woman and longest friend, and is always grateful for her love and support. 

Kendall Rankin 

Kai is the bride's bother and has known her all her life! He is the best older brother anyone could ask for. He is also quite multi-talented...a hot + cold bar barista and cashier at A Special Blend, a singer, guitar player, performer, radio DJ, memory savant, and the king of positive Facebook posts! The bride is overjoyed to have her brother in the wedding party, and super proud of him and all of his accomplishments. 

Kai Limburg

Gentleman, scoundrel, poet, criminal. A man of many different faces, but mostly the last one. Matt has been a steadfast friend and confidant to Alex Schaefer since they were in high school together twenty years ago.

The sushi is SO good...and all-you-can-eat sushi at Mizumi is a great deal!

Mizumi Hibachi and Sushi

The most fabulous cafe in all of Greensboro! A Special Blend hires adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and has delicious coffee and treats. The bride's brother Kai works here!
