Our story began on an early summer Sunday morning at First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN. It was Elise's first Sunday back at the church she grew up in after graduating from SMU in May 2019. Carter wandered into the same Sunday school class on that morning as he was joining the church. During the service, Elise kept elbowing her dad during the introduction of new members to get him to pay attention to the handsome, friendly and very tall newcomer. Not long after they began dating, Elise knew Carter was the one when he asked her mom when he could be referred to as her dog, Paulie's dad.

We liked each other enough to try out long distance dating while Elise was backpacking through Europe that fall... bless my sister, Andie, for enduring 5 AM phone calls in our tiny hostel rooms. That worked so well that Carter moved to DC not long after pursuing a new job opportunity.

2020 and the COVID pandemic hit and it made couples like us realize very quickly how much we loved being around each other. In the fall of 2020, there was not many trips one could take. But Carter had just turned 25 which meant... he could rent a car! So we flew out to CA for the adventure of a lifetime. The first morning of our trip on a crisp, clear morning over the bay in San Francisco... Carter proposed to Elise in front of the Golden Gate Bridge on Baker Beach and asked her to marry him. A couple moves later plus another pup, Banks, joined our crew and we have relocated back to Nashville.

We are so delighted to be able to celebrate our love at the place we first met with our dearest friends and family. Thank you for helping us begin to write our latest chapter... the best is yet to come! XOXO, Elise & Carter
