Our Wedding

Marcos was born and raised in Bozeman, MT. As an only child, Marcos has always felt incredibly close to his small family. Without siblings, Marcos even ventures to consider his friends to be his brothers. His parents always tried to instill the importance of being well rounded, and signed him up for piano, basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, and tennis. As much as Marcos enjoyed all of those activities, tennis was the one that stuck. He spent many of his childhood weekends traveling to tournaments around the mountain west. His most memorable achievement from his junior tennis career was being a state singles champion 2 years in a row! Eliza was born and raised in Bozeman, MT. As one of eight children, she was always surrounded by family (immediate and extended). She is so grateful to call her siblings her closest friends. Eliza adored every animal and creature, and was constantly exploring her family's property looking for them. Throughout her childhood, Eliza was able to experience the joy and hard work that it takes to raise many animals on what she grew to call "the mini farm". She loved growing up in Bozeman and doing all the things that come with it, like hiking, fishing and camping in the summers, hunting each fall, and skiing and sledding in the winters. She attended Bozeman High like her siblings before her, where she continued to develop her talents in music (violin, choir, &amp; piano), as well as trying new things like joining the BHS Dance Team, and even being a finalist in the high school talent show (Hawks Night Live). Eliza and Marcos met by chance through a mutual friend. Although having both been living in Bozeman their entire lives and attending the same high school, they never had any classes together or even knowledge of the other's existence. That was, until a friend invited them to a birthday party in December of 2016. As fate would have it, Eliza and Marcos immediately clicked, both of them describing it "like talking with a friend you've known your whole life."Eliza and Marcos started officially dating a couple of months later, attending Morp and Prom together, going to Lagoon on the senior trip, and graduating high school in the spring of 2017. Eliza made the hard decision to leave Montana to attend college. She got her undergrad in biology from Utah State University. She then made it into dental hygiene school in Salt Lake City, where she graduated with presidential honors in the winter of 2021. Eliza then made the easy decision to come back home to Bozeman (and Marcos), where she began her career as an RDH at her father's dental practice.Marcos decided to stay in Bozeman and attend Montana State University, where he studied chemical engineering. His record high school tennis career allowed him the opportunity to play for the MSU tennis team, where he eventually became a team captain. Marcos graduated with a major in chemical engineering and a minor in hispanic studies in the spring of 2022. Marcos spent that next summer traveling around Europe, where he was able to visit old teammates and new countries. Eliza was able to join him for a bit in Denmark, and together they traveled to Norway. After Marcos returned home, he was hired by an engineering firm in Bozeman, where he works designing and testing cathodic protection systems in the corrosion control department. Eliza and Marcos have since been able to travel together to many new places, including Puerto Rico, Guatemala, and Alaska, as well as going on many other adventures closer to home.Marcos surprised Eliza by proposing to her on March 1st 2024, and to no one's surprise, she said "yes!". And after spending 2 years working with Marcos's parents on rebuilding and furnishing an apartment, Eliza and Marcos moved in together, and Marcos has even become a "cat-dad" to Eliza's cat Fluffy.They are both excited for the future, and even more excited that they get to do it together!

Marcos and Zayd have been friends ever since the first grade! Zayd pushed Marcos into a mud puddle and got detention, but the rest of their relationship has been nothing but uphill since! Zayd is always able to look on the bright side of every situation and has a great sense of humor.

As fate would have it, Marcos and Elliot were assigned to be roommates with each other freshman year at MSU! Surviving many incidents of food poisoning from the dining hall brought them closer together. Elliot is an incredibly talented artist and is capable of building literally anything.

Marcos and Logan have been playing tennis together for years! From numerous matches together as doubles partners to matches against each other as opponents, there was never a dull moment. They even spent a week together in Portugal. Logan is an incredibly gifted photographer and should be considered for any photography needs you may have!

Marcos and Rahm have shared several special memories with each other! They shared a high school graduation party, went to visit Zayd in Portland, and Rahm was there to photograph Marcos and Eliza's engagement. Rahm is always there to lend a helping hand, no matter what it is.

Faith and Eliza became incredibly close after Eliza moved to Logan to attend USU. Eliza spent most days at Faith’s house, especially after Faith had her daughter, Ila, in 2018. Eliza was able to spend all the time she wanted with her niece, and Faith and Taylor got a cheap babysitter (Eliza was more than happy to be paid in Oreos and Graham Crackers). Faith also helped Eliza make some tough decisions, like deciding where to move and to go to Dental Hygiene school.

Mary has an ability to see the humor in almost anything, and has shown Eliza how to do the same. Eliza calls Mary for advice and support quite often. Mary has the unique ability to show enormous amounts of compassion/caring while still having a no-nonsense and tough love approach to life's problems. Eliza was able to go visit her in Georgia last year and is excited to go back soon!

Mary Finnegan

Charity is Eliza's oldest sister! She lives in Bozeman and has a job she loves, working in the daycare of the YMCA. She loves to have Eliza drive her to work because, as Charity puts it, "we talk about feelings and listen to fun Disney songs". Charity is always fast to suggest a "Frosty run" to Wendy's, and faster to suggest that Eliza drive her there!

Charity Mortenson

Karrina is Eliza's youngest sister. She has an incredibly positive outlook on life, and a willingness and desire to help anyone she can. She embodies the teaching to serve others. If the act of "dancing and singing in the rain" became a person, it would be Karrina.. and she would be pulling on your hand to have you join her.

Karrina Anderson

Eliza has worked hard to build close relationships with her nieces and nephews (all 11 of them)! Eliza is grateful that her siblings gave her the cutest niblings to love and spoil. Known as "Aunt Lala" and "Liza Lize", she takes great pride in being the favorite aunt. Although it took some time (and lots of reassurance), the kids now understand that they won't be losing an aunt when Eliza gets married, they will be gaining an uncle! Marcos and Eliza are so excited to have them participate in the wedding as the flower children.
