What will transportation look like in Colombia?
Transportation will be provided to all locations and venues for the duration of trip (10/2-10/6). We will coordinate transportation to and from the wedding venue. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from the Pereira Matecana Airport. The wedding venue is approximately a 30 minute drive from the hotel. Salento is approximately a one hour drive from the hotel, and the coffee tour will be within 30 minutes from the hotel. Please update us regarding your travel plans as soon as they are confirmed. No need for Uber or Lyft! We will be there with you every step of the way!
Do I have to go to the activities (Salento and Coffee Tour) or can I stay at the hotel?
All extracurricular activities provided on the itinerary are optional. If you choose to attend any or all, we require you to RSVP for each activity separately (RSVP form on the Home page). A headcount must be conducted to coordinate each activity successfully! We hope you join us in all the fun!
What is the dress Code? Is there a Color scheme?
Formal Attire. We suggest that men wear a suit in any color and women wear a floor-length evening or cocktail dress. The color scheme is a harmonious blend of warm reds, oranges, and yellows with cool browns, golds, and greens.
Can I bring my children to the wedding?
You may bring your kiddos! But please keep in mind that they would need to be able to ride on busses, go on walking tours, and be outdoors for all of our fun adventures! Also please indicate in the RSVP form so we can keep count of how many children will be attending :)
do we need vaccinations or medications?
Colombia has no vaccinations that are a condition of entry, including the COVID-19 vaccine or vaccination certificates. You should, however, take precautions against mosquitoes by bringing an appropriate insect repellent that contains 20% or more DEET for protection that lasts up to several hours.
Pereira is an extremely high city, around 4,639 ft. above sea level. The mountainous terrains can cause motion/elevation sickness. It is encouraged you also bring altitude/motion sickness pills such as Dramamine and Ibuprofen.
Can we drink the water?
While Colombians can drink the tap water, we advise that travelers do not. We recommend only drinking from bottled water and soda cans just to be on the safe side.
The hotel at Casa San Carlos also has a filtered Water Jug that you can refill your reusable water bottle throughout the day.
how much money should I bring?
Transportation, breakfast, lunch at Salento, and the coffee farm tour are included during this trip for our guests! :) So you only need some "spending money" if you would like to purchase things such as leather wallets, purses, paintings, ceramics, etc; Every person may have individual spending budgets but can expect to range anywhere from $50 - $200 depending on what you would like to buy. In regards to meals, you can order room service to your credit card on file at the hotel, or can dine at the hotel restaurants.
We recommend you bring cash for shopping and personal purchases (such as during the day trip to Salento, or if you want to buy coffee at the coffee tour). Prior to traveling, you should notify your banks regarding international travel and authorize your debit/credit card for use. It is not advised to travel with large amounts of cash or travel with multiple credit cards. Check your bank website for updated exchange rates, but you should expect around 4000 Colombian Pesos for 1 USD. You can get Colombian Pesos exchanged through your bank. It is recommended you do this several weeks in advance.

Do I need to know spanish to go to Ellie and JImmy's wedding?
NO! Spanish is the main language in all of Colombia, but many people also speak English. The hotel employees and coffee tour guides will speak English to answer your reservations/inquiries, so don’t let language concerns stop you from joining us!
Duolingo is also a great free app, if you want to learn some basic Spanish phrases before you come! :)
What should I pack?
Recommendations:
comfortable clothes! Sneakers + formal shoes, Jeans/joggers, Casual shirts during day, Long sleeves/sweaters for early mornings/late evenings (temp around 65F), casual sundresses , Formal attire for wedding day, mosquito repellent (remember we will be in nature very often!) , rain jacket/umbrella, bathing suit (optional, for pool at hotel), sunglasses/hat, sunblock, reusable water bottle, toiletries (Advil/Tylenol/Benadryl, toothpaste, etc.).
What is the Weather like in Pereira, Colombia?
The weather will be lovely with lows of 60 and highs of 80! So be prepared for chilly mornings and evenings, but warm afternoons. It is typically very sunny, but often rains for short periods of time (similar to Florida). The sunrise is approximately 6am and sunset is approximately 6pm.
What about cell phone service?
You can reach out to your individual provider regarding international plans. However, since it is only a 5 day trip, you also have the option to just leave your phone on airplane mode and use WiFi! The hotel will have WiFi available to all guests. Additionally, the restaurant in Salento and the wedding day venue will also have WiFi. Otherwise, we will always be traveling together :) So we can consider this a time to disconnect from our phones and connect to the nature and wonderful experience around us.
