After a brief introduction by Elizabeth's parents at New Life Community Church, Concord, Massachusetts in June 2022, Ryan wrote to Elizabeth's parents in August 2023 to ask for their permission and approval to contact Elizabeth. Both in prayer and seeking God's heart, with the desire not to entertain anything apart from His will, the Lord made it clear through a series of confirmations to both Elizabeth and Ryan, that, in fact, this was His doing. Two months later, Elizabeth and Ryan were glued to FaceTime for hours on end building a solid friendship from miles apart; Ryan in Newton, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth in Savannah, Georgia.

Their first date was on November 24th, 2023, a picture-perfect, chilly New England day, with blue skies and sunshine. Ryan arrived at Elizabeth's childhood home in Concord, MA to meet in person for the first time since their less-than-five-minute encounter at church back in June 2022. With a stunning bouquet of flowers in hand to greet Elizabeth as she flew out of the front door at the sight of his arrival, Elizabeth's whole family watched from the front windows of the music room, while Elizabeth's older brother, Matthew, humorously filmed this memorable moment from inside. After greeting everyone, the new couple took off on the commuter train to spend the day at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was the last first date they'd ever have!

After Thanksgiving, Ryan and Elizabeth's parents, Cathy and Will, who already all got along famously, went out to dinner, where Ryan asked them for their permission to propose to Elizabeth. Without hesitation, Cathy exclaimed, "Yes!", as Will tenderheartedly gave his approval seasoned with sound wisdom and counsel, as to be expected from a good and protective father. On New Years Eve, Ryan proposed to Elizabeth at the Night Lights: Starry Skies Exhibit at New England Botanic Garden.

As they embark on the gift of marriage, it is with confidence and hope, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith, and with the knowledge that no matter what they encounter, that they can trust His lead with every step. After all, this was truly a "match made in heaven."
