Our Wedding

We met at a small town bar in Paola, Kansas. On my twenty-first birthday. By chance and a little luck. Call it whatever, I call it fate, destiny, kismet in the cheesiest possible way. Both of us coming from California a decade apart. We somehow ended up right where we needed to be at the perfect time. I still remember when he walked in the bar and we locked eyes from across the room. That part felt like a movie. Maybe I’m just playing it up in my head because I’m remembering the first time we met. He made his way over to my friend and I. Introduced himself and bought us a couple drinks. He and I found ourselves locked in and off to the side. We talked about so much, our conversations just flowed and it felt comfortable from the beginning. Like I’ve known him forever. After about 30 min of nonstop questions and answers and finding out we had so much in common. We exchanged snaps, then my friend and I went on with the festivities. A couple weeks later he messaged me or I messaged him, we still disagree on who made the first move. After we a talked back and forth all week. He messaged me the next Friday, asking me to take me out soon, I said, “I’m free tonight lol”. He picked me up in his Cadillac and we went to a bar in Olathe. Where we took tequila shots, (I could never do that now) played darts, and pool. We talked and laughed till our sides hurt. Before we left the bar, we shared our first kiss, talked about loyalty, and trust. From then on we’ve been inseparable.  He truly is my favorite person in the world. To find a bestfriend in your spouse is something magical. It’s hard to describe to someone who doesn’t have it. Or hasn’t found it. I don’t know how it’s possible to love him any more but I do. I get to fall more and more in love with him every day. He’s truly the only person I’ve never gotten tired of. The only person I can trust with my whole heart. I know he has my best interest at all times and is there for me for anything. I’m so excited and lucky to be his future wife.

Growing up with four brothers, and being the only girl. I always felt the need to be like a second parent, and a good leader. Now,  being the first to get married I get to lead them down the path I obviously would take myself. Do good, be a good person and good things will happen. We all have our days but at the end of the day if your heart is in the right place the rest will follow. The universe sent me a man that mirrors all those good things back to me. He’s my sounding board, my backbone and my diary. Even if I don’t want to hear it. He’s always there to tell me the truth. He’s in my corner no matter what. The biggest advice I can give my brothers is find someone who makes you feel easy to love.

Micheal is Patrick’s only brother and now my 5th brother. He’s always treated me like family and we know we can count on him always. I know Patrick is honored to call him his best man.
