One of the few National Parks located in a city, this area includes Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Franklin Court with the Benjamin Franklin Museum and the Franklin Printing Office. There are numerous historical and cultural museums around this area as well as places to eat. Don't forget the American Philosophical Society Museum around the corner of Independence Hall for exhibits on early scientific discoveries in America.
This is located in the Old City District.
This is arguably the heart of Philadelphia's Center City - a bustling beautiful park full of locals relaxing, surrounded by gorgeous architecture. The surrounding Rittenhouse neighborhood includes myriad locations for eating and shopping.
On Saturday mornings you can catch the Rittenhouse Square Farmers Market.
A famous historical prison operational from 1829 to 1971 that refined the system of solitary confinement. Interesting as a historical site, but also has a spooky Halloween tour.
Operating since 1892, this indoor food market is an iconic Philadelphian experience with more than 75 vendors selling everything from fresh Amish produce to Philly classics like soft pretzels and cheesesteaks. This is where Michael's fishmonger is!
The PMoA holds a massive collection of international art. A ticket also admits you to the nearby Rodin Museum.
Another nearby gem includes the Barnes Foundation, a private collection turned public featuring French impressionists like Monet and Renoir, Post-Impressionists like Van Gogh, and the work of other household name artists such as Picasso and Matisse.
Antiquing is one of the Cards' favorite family pasttimes while traveling. While the Pine Street Antique Row boasts the majority of the Philly antique shops, Anastacia's on Bainbridge is Lizz's favorite. Afterwards you can explore South Street for a number of places to eat and shop, including Philly AIDS Thrift.
