Huatulco

Huatulco (pronounced wah-TOOL-co) is an up and coming tourist development on the Pacific coast of Mexico in the Mexican state of Oaxaca (wuh-HAH-kah). The area is divided into four districts: Tangolunda (luxury resort area), Santa Cruz (the pier), La Crucecita (small village) and Chahué (the largest bay and beach area). We will be in Santa Cruz.

Unlike the commercialism that has taken over areas such as Cancún and Los Cabos, Huatulco brings a quieter, more relaxed vibe. It has many protected zones for ecological conservation where no development can take place. These areas are comprised of thousands of acres of low land jungle and marine areas that house the most important coral communities on the Mexican Pacific. The city of Huatulco takes a lot of pride in their land!

Among things to do, besides the 36 beaches that provide a great scuba or snorkeling experience, there are also popular waterfall and jungle tours that can more than satisfy the adventurist in you. There are coves and ruins to explore. Deep sea fishing (with restaurants that will happily cook your catch) is also an option.

We want to note, Huatulco is considered one of the safest areas to travel to in all of Mexico.

We can't wait to make this place our home for four days!
