HOW WE MET:
Davis and Elizabeth met at taekwondo. The Hoefelmeyers were already students at Coventry TaeKwondo when the Dunlaps joined in 2011. It wasn’t until Davis and Elizabeth were around 14 that they were in more classes together and got to know each other. By the time they were around 15-16, it was pretty obvious to almost everyone at the studio that there was chemistry happening between them. The only people who weren’t so aware were Davis and Elizabeth!
Finally by age 16 they started dating, while continuing to advance in taekwondo. They both graduated from Indiana Tech University, and began working in their respective fields: him in biomedical engineering, her working with autistic children.
THE PROPOSAL:
The pre-proposal happened the summer after their high school graduations. The Dunlaps took Davis along with them to California, and while visiting Disneyland, Davis got down on his knee and presented a promise ring in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. He told her it was too soon, but asked that when the time was right, would she promise to say yes, and she did.
After about 7 years as “pre-ances”(rhymes with fiances), she came home from work one day to find rose petals scattered throughout the house, and Davis on his knee again with the actual engagement ring. She said yes again.
FAVORITE MEMORIES:
Ten years of togetherness has afforded many awesome memories. They’ve shared taekwondo events, hockey games, comedy shows, and concerts. They had a Hoefelmeyer family spring break trip to Florida, and the California trip with the Dunlaps.
