How We Met

In January of 2020, Elizabeth started her clinical rotations for the Medical Laboratory Science program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her first rotation was blood bank. There was this tall guy who kept visiting blood bank and cracking jokes. She didn't know who he was, so she tried to find out. As masterful of a social media sleuth as she is, Elizabeth could not find any info on the guy anywhere!! In February she moved on to her microbiology rotation...and there he was. The tall funny guy. Turns out his name is Porter. Unfortunately the microbiology rotation is only 3 weeks long, so Elizabeth knew she had to do something.

After discussing their hobbies, Porter learned that Elizabeth likes to paint. He asked her to paint pictures of his two dogs, Molly and Dot, and his pet snake Kipling (RIP). It was the perfect excuse for Elizabeth to slip Porter her number. And it worked! We spent a couple days texting and getting to know each other. Then the unthinkable happened... Covid 19. Students were asked to leave their clinical rotations on March 13th. Businesses were shutting down due to government regulations. How in the world do you go on a first date during the start of a pandemic? Porter came up with the idea to walk Dot at the Natchez trace. Elizabeth brought him his first puppy painting, and we walked and talked for hours!

Dating those first few months was rough since everything was shut down. Porter lent Elizabeth his favorite films to watch as she waited on graduation and job offers. He was her rock during such uncertain times. Eventually things started to open back up again and we could go on real dates!

As our love grew, so did our little fur family. Elizabeth got Teddy, a Great Pyrenees, in 2021. He is the most spoiled fur baby you will ever meet. But, he was lonely while Elizabeth was at work, so in 2023 we adopted a grey tabby kitten named Oliver.

Porter and Elizabeth love to vacation in Anna Maria Island, FL. On our second trip there in September 2023, Porter popped the question during our photoshoot on Bean Point Beach. We celebrated afterwards with dinner at Waterfront restaurant on the island.

We can't wait to make our family official in Spring of 2025, and we hope you will join us on this special day!
