Although Liz and Ryan moved to Boston within just a few weeks of each other in the Fall of 2019, it took several months and a global pandemic to fatefully bring the two together.

In July 2020, Ryan was living South of Boston and Liz just inside of the city, so the two picked the beach as their first date spot, a location that has continued to hold significance throughout their relationship. Ryan was responsible for dinner, and picked up an assortment of sushi from the grocery store as not many restaurants were open due to COVID. Lizzie was on drink duty and brought an array of options - seltzer and blue moon.

The date may not have been PERFECT logistically as there was a massive rainstorm earlier that day, but it did mean the two had the beach virtually to themselves. The 4-hour picnic date was capped off by a lackluster firework show when a homeless man climbed the lifeguard tower and set off some contraband fireworks from atop the tower. The two quickly made plans for a second date, the very next night.

A few months passed and Ryan had left Boston for a few weeks to spend time with family over the holidays. He invited Lizzie down to Florida to spend time together and meet part of his family, and from there the rest was history.

Lizzie and Ryan enjoyed their time in Boston exploring the city, taking day trips around New England, and welcoming many friends and family to visit them in their first home together.

In the Fall of 2021, the couple started new remote jobs and moved down to Florida to escape the brutal Boston winters and make a new life together in a city entirely new to both of them, St. Petersburg.

After several months living in St Pete, it was time for a trip back to New England to celebrate a friend’s wedding, visit friends and family, and reconnect with their old stomping grounds.

Towards the end of the trip, the two spent their 2-year anniversary on Block Island, a very special location to them.

When they got off the ferry, Ryan insisted that they wander aimlessly around the island shops with their luggage to the bewilderment of Lizzie. Eventually, the two made their way uphill, Ryan carrying all of their luggage, to the Spring House Hotel.

Waiting at the top of a hill was a bottle of champagne and bouquet of flowers that overlooked the water. Ryan pulled out the most beautiful ring, got down on one knee, and asked his best friend to marry him, to which she replied…”oh my God” followed by some inaudible sounds and head nods. Unbeknownst to Lizzie, their families watched the proposal from the hotel and then quickly rushed outside to celebrate.

Happier than ever, Liz and Ryan recently purchased their first house and are looking forward to settling in and making it a home.
