Our Wedding

Garrett's&nbsp;Version: We&nbsp;first&nbsp;met&nbsp;on&nbsp;a&nbsp;double&nbsp;date&nbsp;with&nbsp;William&nbsp;and&nbsp;Kristen&nbsp;on&nbsp;October&nbsp;5,&nbsp;2019.&nbsp;William&nbsp;and&nbsp;Kristen&nbsp;suggested&nbsp;we&nbsp;meet&nbsp;and&nbsp;double&nbsp;date,&nbsp;as&nbsp;they&nbsp;thought&nbsp;we&nbsp;would&nbsp;be&nbsp;a&nbsp;good&nbsp;match-&nbsp;clearly&nbsp;they&nbsp;were&nbsp;correct!&nbsp;Our&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;started&nbsp;with&nbsp;bowling,&nbsp;then&nbsp;Applebee's&nbsp;for&nbsp;dinner.&nbsp;We&nbsp;went&nbsp;back&nbsp;to&nbsp;William's&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;after&nbsp;the&nbsp;date,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Elizabeth&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;ride&nbsp;with&nbsp;me&nbsp;from&nbsp;Brownsburg.&nbsp;At&nbsp;the&nbsp;time&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;my&nbsp;manual&nbsp;Mustang,&nbsp;so&nbsp;we&nbsp;got&nbsp;in&nbsp;to&nbsp;leave&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;immediately&nbsp;killed&nbsp;it&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;parking&nbsp;spot.&nbsp;I&nbsp;popped&nbsp;the&nbsp;clutch&nbsp;after&nbsp;starting&nbsp;it,&nbsp;forgetting&nbsp;I&nbsp;parked&nbsp;it&nbsp;gear&nbsp;(like&nbsp;I&nbsp;did&nbsp;every&nbsp;time),&nbsp;something&nbsp;about&nbsp;being&nbsp;nervous...&nbsp;So&nbsp;here&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;trying&nbsp;to&nbsp;impress&nbsp;this&nbsp;girl&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;botch&nbsp;it&nbsp;that&nbsp;hard,&nbsp;right&nbsp;out&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;gate.&nbsp;Thankfully&nbsp;she&nbsp;laughed&nbsp;with&nbsp;me,&nbsp;overlooked&nbsp;it,&nbsp;and&nbsp;we&nbsp;made&nbsp;it&nbsp;back&nbsp;to&nbsp;William's&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;with&nbsp;no&nbsp;other&nbsp;hiccups.&nbsp;The&nbsp;evening&nbsp;went&nbsp;well,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;dropped&nbsp;her&nbsp;back&nbsp;off&nbsp;at&nbsp;her&nbsp;car&nbsp;that&nbsp;evening.&nbsp;She&nbsp;will&nbsp;definitely&nbsp;want&nbsp;you&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;that&nbsp;she&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;one&nbsp;that&nbsp;kissed&nbsp;me&nbsp;first-&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;end&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;first&nbsp;date!&nbsp;I&nbsp;would&nbsp;have,&nbsp;but&nbsp;boy,&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;too&nbsp;nervous.&nbsp;First&nbsp;date&nbsp;was&nbsp;over,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;over&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon.&nbsp;I&nbsp;would&nbsp;go&nbsp;on&nbsp;to&nbsp;visit&nbsp;her&nbsp;at&nbsp;work&nbsp;after&nbsp;she&nbsp;finished&nbsp;shifts&nbsp;at&nbsp;Community&nbsp;North&nbsp;and&nbsp;East&nbsp;hospital&nbsp;and&nbsp;see&nbsp;her&nbsp;as&nbsp;often&nbsp;as&nbsp;possible.&nbsp;We&nbsp;became&nbsp;"official"&nbsp;a&nbsp;few&nbsp;short&nbsp;weeks&nbsp;later&nbsp;on&nbsp;October&nbsp;22nd! Things&nbsp;progressed&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;from&nbsp;there-&nbsp;we&nbsp;spent&nbsp;as&nbsp;much&nbsp;time&nbsp;together&nbsp;as&nbsp;possible&nbsp;(living&nbsp;almost&nbsp;an&nbsp;hour&nbsp;apart&nbsp;from&nbsp;each&nbsp;other).&nbsp;There&nbsp;were&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;trips&nbsp;for&nbsp;each&nbsp;of&nbsp;us,&nbsp;back&nbsp;and&nbsp;forth&nbsp;between&nbsp;Danville&nbsp;and&nbsp;Noblesville.&nbsp;I&nbsp;got&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;her&nbsp;family&nbsp;well&nbsp;through&nbsp;spending&nbsp;time&nbsp;at&nbsp;her&nbsp;house&nbsp;and&nbsp;family&nbsp;gatherings,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;thankful&nbsp;we&nbsp;were&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;build&nbsp;those&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;early.&nbsp;During&nbsp;this&nbsp;time&nbsp;we&nbsp;also&nbsp;started&nbsp;our&nbsp;annual&nbsp;tradition&nbsp;of&nbsp;going&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;Jamestown&nbsp;Fear&nbsp;Farm&nbsp;as&nbsp;well. About&nbsp;5&nbsp;months&nbsp;into&nbsp;our&nbsp;relationship,&nbsp;the&nbsp;dreaded&nbsp;COVID&nbsp;hit,&nbsp;and&nbsp;that&nbsp;made&nbsp;for&nbsp;an&nbsp;interesting&nbsp;time&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;young&nbsp;relationship.&nbsp;We&nbsp;were&nbsp;then&nbsp;suddenly&nbsp;restricted&nbsp;to&nbsp;only&nbsp;doing&nbsp;things&nbsp;at&nbsp;home.&nbsp;Which&nbsp;lead&nbsp;to&nbsp;lots&nbsp;of&nbsp;movies&nbsp;and&nbsp;board&nbsp;games-&nbsp;both&nbsp;of&nbsp;which&nbsp;we&nbsp;still&nbsp;very&nbsp;much&nbsp;enjoy&nbsp;today. We&nbsp;got&nbsp;to&nbsp;attend&nbsp;our&nbsp;first&nbsp;wedding&nbsp;together&nbsp;too,&nbsp;Thomas&nbsp;and&nbsp;Caroline's!&nbsp;It&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;wonderful&nbsp;weekend&nbsp;with&nbsp;friends,&nbsp;and&nbsp;it&nbsp;really&nbsp;allowed&nbsp;Elizabeth&nbsp;to&nbsp;spend&nbsp;some&nbsp;quality&nbsp;time&nbsp;with&nbsp;my&nbsp;friend&nbsp;group.&nbsp;Not&nbsp;that&nbsp;she&nbsp;hadn't&nbsp;before,&nbsp;but&nbsp;it&nbsp;was&nbsp;an&nbsp;entire&nbsp;weekend&nbsp;of&nbsp;it!&nbsp;This&nbsp;is&nbsp;also&nbsp;the&nbsp;point&nbsp;where&nbsp;I&nbsp;mention&nbsp;that&nbsp;I&nbsp;got&nbsp;the&nbsp;chance&nbsp;to&nbsp;meet&nbsp;her&nbsp;many&nbsp;friend&nbsp;groups&nbsp;throughout&nbsp;this&nbsp;this&nbsp;together&nbsp;as&nbsp;well,&nbsp;and&nbsp;all&nbsp;of&nbsp;them&nbsp;welcomed&nbsp;me&nbsp;with&nbsp;open&nbsp;arms.&nbsp;I&nbsp;have&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;all&nbsp;of&nbsp;her&nbsp;people&nbsp;and&nbsp;am&nbsp;thankful&nbsp;that&nbsp;I&nbsp;can&nbsp;call&nbsp;most&nbsp;of&nbsp;them&nbsp;friends&nbsp;of&nbsp;my&nbsp;own&nbsp;as&nbsp;well. Elizabeth&nbsp;also&nbsp;shared&nbsp;her&nbsp;Spring&nbsp;Mill&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park&nbsp;getaway&nbsp;with&nbsp;her&nbsp;family&nbsp;where&nbsp;hiked&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;got&nbsp;to&nbsp;spend&nbsp;more&nbsp;quality&nbsp;time&nbsp;with&nbsp;her&nbsp;family.&nbsp;Definitely&nbsp;started&nbsp;our&nbsp;state&nbsp;park&nbsp;trips&nbsp;and&nbsp;hiking&nbsp;joy&nbsp;together&nbsp;here&nbsp;as&nbsp;well. I&nbsp;realize&nbsp;now&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;going&nbsp;into&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;detail,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;here&nbsp;forever&nbsp;if&nbsp;I&nbsp;keep&nbsp;up&nbsp;this&nbsp;detail.&nbsp;We&nbsp;started&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;traditions&nbsp;in&nbsp;2020&nbsp;and&nbsp;had&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;good&nbsp;memories&nbsp;together&nbsp;throughout&nbsp;that&nbsp;tough&nbsp;year.&nbsp;It&nbsp;was&nbsp;an&nbsp;emotional&nbsp;year,&nbsp;and&nbsp;we&nbsp;spent&nbsp;New&nbsp;Years&nbsp;at&nbsp;my&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;alone&nbsp;because&nbsp;of&nbsp;COVID,&nbsp;and&nbsp;boy&nbsp;that&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;rough&nbsp;time&nbsp;to&nbsp;reflect.&nbsp;Obviously&nbsp;we&nbsp;made&nbsp;it&nbsp;through,&nbsp;and&nbsp;are&nbsp;stronger&nbsp;than&nbsp;ever&nbsp;because&nbsp;of&nbsp;it&nbsp;though. Early&nbsp;2021&nbsp;lead&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;decision&nbsp;to&nbsp;move&nbsp;in&nbsp;together.&nbsp;We&nbsp;knew&nbsp;we&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;together&nbsp;forever,&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;next&nbsp;natural&nbsp;progression&nbsp;felt&nbsp;to&nbsp;move&nbsp;in&nbsp;together.&nbsp;Really&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;there&nbsp;was&nbsp;nothing&nbsp;crazy&nbsp;the&nbsp;other&nbsp;did&nbsp;(thankfully&nbsp;she&nbsp;didn't&nbsp;identify&nbsp;anything&nbsp;I&nbsp;couldn't&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;change&nbsp;(see&nbsp;leaving&nbsp;the&nbsp;toilet&nbsp;seat&nbsp;up)).&nbsp;We&nbsp;found&nbsp;our&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;we&nbsp;are&nbsp;still&nbsp;in&nbsp;today,&nbsp;moved&nbsp;Theo&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jazz&nbsp;in&nbsp;with&nbsp;us,&nbsp;and&nbsp;are&nbsp;living&nbsp;as&nbsp;our&nbsp;happy&nbsp;little&nbsp;family. We&nbsp;have&nbsp;taken&nbsp;vacations&nbsp;together,&nbsp;spent&nbsp;weekends&nbsp;away,&nbsp;spent&nbsp;vacations&nbsp;with&nbsp;her&nbsp;family,&nbsp;and&nbsp;spent&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;evenings&nbsp;with&nbsp;my&nbsp;family.&nbsp;All&nbsp;of&nbsp;which&nbsp;has&nbsp;contributed&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;strong&nbsp;relationships&nbsp;we&nbsp;both&nbsp;have&nbsp;with&nbsp;each&nbsp;others'&nbsp;families,&nbsp;and&nbsp;boy&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;thankful&nbsp;it&nbsp;has&nbsp;worked&nbsp;out&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;see&nbsp;all&nbsp;the&nbsp;family&nbsp;as&nbsp;much&nbsp;as&nbsp;we&nbsp;can.&nbsp;Lots&nbsp;of&nbsp;good&nbsp;memories&nbsp;made&nbsp;together,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;cannot&nbsp;wait&nbsp;to&nbsp;continue&nbsp;to&nbsp;make&nbsp;more&nbsp;wonderful&nbsp;memories&nbsp;together. Elizabeth&nbsp;is&nbsp;my&nbsp;life&nbsp;long&nbsp;partner,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;look&nbsp;forward&nbsp;to&nbsp;continuing&nbsp;to&nbsp;do&nbsp;life&nbsp;with&nbsp;her.&nbsp;Nothing&nbsp;means&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;spend&nbsp;the&nbsp;rest&nbsp;of&nbsp;my&nbsp;life&nbsp;with&nbsp;my&nbsp;best&nbsp;friend. Elizabeth's&nbsp;Version: Garrett&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;first&nbsp;met&nbsp;on&nbsp;October&nbsp;5,&nbsp;2019&nbsp;while&nbsp;on&nbsp;a&nbsp;double&nbsp;date&nbsp;at&nbsp;Brownsburg&nbsp;bowl&nbsp;after&nbsp;being&nbsp;set&nbsp;up&nbsp;by&nbsp;mutual&nbsp;friends.&nbsp;I&nbsp;thought&nbsp;this&nbsp;would&nbsp;be&nbsp;a&nbsp;fun,&nbsp;spontaneous&nbsp;thing&nbsp;to&nbsp;do&nbsp;that&nbsp;wouldn't&nbsp;lead&nbsp;to&nbsp;anything&nbsp;serious.&nbsp;Boy,&nbsp;was&nbsp;I&nbsp;wrong.&nbsp;The&nbsp;moment&nbsp;Garrett&nbsp;stepped&nbsp;out&nbsp;of&nbsp;his&nbsp;car,&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;smitten&nbsp;(my&nbsp;friend&nbsp;Kristen,&nbsp;who&nbsp;set&nbsp;up&nbsp;the&nbsp;date,&nbsp;can&nbsp;attest&nbsp;to&nbsp;this).&nbsp;From&nbsp;the&nbsp;moment&nbsp;we&nbsp;met,&nbsp;we&nbsp;developed&nbsp;such&nbsp;a&nbsp;strong&nbsp;and&nbsp;immediate&nbsp;connection&nbsp;that&nbsp;we&nbsp;saw&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;again&nbsp;only&nbsp;3&nbsp;days&nbsp;later&nbsp;(and&nbsp;started&nbsp;officially&nbsp;dating&nbsp;only&nbsp;14&nbsp;days&nbsp;after&nbsp;that!).&nbsp;We&nbsp;bonded&nbsp;over&nbsp;watching&nbsp;The&nbsp;Office,&nbsp;listening&nbsp;to&nbsp;several&nbsp;different&nbsp;genres&nbsp;of&nbsp;music,&nbsp;and&nbsp;drinking&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;(him&nbsp;-&nbsp;hot,&nbsp;me&nbsp;-&nbsp;iced).&nbsp; We&nbsp;spent&nbsp;the&nbsp;first&nbsp;year&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;half&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;commuting&nbsp;between&nbsp;Noblesville&nbsp;and&nbsp;Danville&nbsp;(we&nbsp;became&nbsp;very&nbsp;familiar&nbsp;with&nbsp;i-465&nbsp;and&nbsp;i-74).&nbsp;We&nbsp;were&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;explore&nbsp;the&nbsp;north-side&nbsp;and&nbsp;my&nbsp;hometown&nbsp;together,&nbsp;and&nbsp;we&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;meeting&nbsp;and&nbsp;spending&nbsp;time&nbsp;with&nbsp;each&nbsp;others'&nbsp;families&nbsp;and&nbsp;friends.&nbsp;We&nbsp;were&nbsp;dating&nbsp;for&nbsp;only&nbsp;5&nbsp;months&nbsp;when&nbsp;the&nbsp;pandemic&nbsp;hit&nbsp;which&nbsp;we&nbsp;"survived"&nbsp;by&nbsp;going&nbsp;on&nbsp;walks&nbsp;outside&nbsp;together,&nbsp;getting&nbsp;take-out&nbsp;from&nbsp;our&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;restaurants,&nbsp;and&nbsp;face-timing&nbsp;frequently.&nbsp; &nbsp;We&nbsp;moved&nbsp;in&nbsp;together&nbsp;into&nbsp;our&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;in&nbsp;Westfield&nbsp;in&nbsp;April&nbsp;of&nbsp;2021&nbsp;with&nbsp;our&nbsp;two&nbsp;kitties,&nbsp;Theodore&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jazz.&nbsp;We&nbsp;have&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;spending&nbsp;time&nbsp;with&nbsp;our&nbsp;little&nbsp;family&nbsp;(competing&nbsp;for&nbsp;kitty&nbsp;snugs),&nbsp;watching&nbsp;hot&nbsp;air&nbsp;balloons&nbsp;out&nbsp;of&nbsp;window,&nbsp;and&nbsp;walking&nbsp;laps&nbsp;around&nbsp;the&nbsp;complex.&nbsp;We&nbsp;have&nbsp;truly&nbsp;made&nbsp;our&nbsp;apartment&nbsp;our&nbsp;home. We&nbsp;have&nbsp;traveled&nbsp;to&nbsp;Ohio&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;wedding&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;concert,&nbsp;to&nbsp;Missouri&nbsp;to&nbsp;see&nbsp;The&nbsp;Arch&nbsp;and&nbsp;visit&nbsp;family,&nbsp;and&nbsp;to&nbsp;Tennessee&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;fall&nbsp;vacation&nbsp;away.&nbsp;Together,&nbsp;we&nbsp;enjoy&nbsp;visiting&nbsp;new&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;shops,&nbsp;playing&nbsp;games&nbsp;such&nbsp;as&nbsp;Scrabble,&nbsp;Skip-Bo,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Mario&nbsp;Kart,&nbsp;and&nbsp;watching&nbsp;Criminal&nbsp;Minds,&nbsp;Survivor,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Cutthroat&nbsp;Kitchen.&nbsp;We&nbsp;have&nbsp;been&nbsp;together&nbsp;through&nbsp;7&nbsp;jobs,&nbsp;9&nbsp;cars&nbsp;(mostly&nbsp;Garrett's&nbsp;:P),&nbsp;and&nbsp;have&nbsp;visited&nbsp;19&nbsp;(and&nbsp;counting!)&nbsp;different&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;shops.&nbsp;I&nbsp;can't&nbsp;wait&nbsp;for&nbsp;our&nbsp;next&nbsp;adventures&nbsp;together. Garrett&nbsp;is&nbsp;my&nbsp;best&nbsp;friend&nbsp;and&nbsp;closet&nbsp;confidant,&nbsp;my&nbsp;number&nbsp;one&nbsp;fan&nbsp;and&nbsp;supporter,&nbsp;and&nbsp;my&nbsp;partner&nbsp;in&nbsp;life.&nbsp;I&nbsp;cannot&nbsp;wait&nbsp;to&nbsp;marry&nbsp;him&nbsp;on&nbsp;our&nbsp;big&nbsp;day&nbsp;and&nbsp;spend&nbsp;the&nbsp;rest&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;lives&nbsp;together.&nbsp;&lt;3

Garrett's best friend since 6th grade. Lots of days spent playing videos games at William's house and hanging with friends. He definitely had the hangout spot in middle school and high school. They were also roommates freshman year at Purdue! That was an unforgettable experience in itself.

The groom's brother-in-law. Funny enough, they met at camp when they were kids- little did Garrett know Billy would be his brother-in-law later in life.

Adreanna Potts

Garrett's best friend since middle school. Several classes together along with baseball lead to a strong friendship. They were then roommates in college! Always bonding over cars, work and pokemon. 

Lance Zeller

Elizabeth and Whitney first met in 2017 at Marian University while both pursuing their Bachelor of Science degrees.  They bonded over long hours of studying and drinking copious amounts of iced coffee. They also bonded over their love for animals which is the reason why Elizabeth became such a cat person. 

Whitney Zuercher 

Garrett's best friend since middle school and part of the core friend group. A role model to the group and a man Garrett is proud to know. Also, peep Caroline in his picture.

Thomas McComb

Elizabeth and Melissa (Mel) first met during their senior year at Marian University while pursing similar degrees (2018). Elizabeth also had the honor to stand by Mel on her wedding day as her maid of honor in November of 2022. 

Melissa Brandes

Another member of the core group from middle school and one of Garrett's best friends. Always a good time when Sabens is around; they have spent countless nights in college just talking. There is nobody better to have a conversation with at 2 am than Sabens.

Elizabeth and Kennedy first met through mutual friends in 2018 while pursing their undergraduate biology degrees at Marian University. They've bonded over their love for unique coffee shops and continue to go on "Lizzy/Ken Ken Dates."

Kennedy Adams

One of Garrett's best friends since middle school track. They ran together every year after which lead to a year-round friendship and a friendship Garrett cherishes to this day. Garrett also broke Shillings' arm in 8th grade football practice...😬
