October 18th Sammy asked Lizzie to be his girlfriend - This got kickstarted by his father already calling Liz his girlfriend and they were about to take their first trip down to Chicago for a Quinn XCII Covid drive-in concert.

Lizzie always found it weird that Sammy was taking a vested interest in her hobbies. One of the weird hobbies Liz was a big part of was Major League Quidditch. This opened up many fun trips for the couple. They continued to go on trips and explore the world even after Liz's career.

When they aren't exploring the globe, Sammy and Lizzie have bonded over their shared love of the casual pint.

Every place they go to discover, they make sure to make a stop at a brewery. They have gone to hundreds of breweries trying out new brews, vibes, and beer leagues. They partake in Bocce, Kubb, and Curling tournaments. Forgotten Star Brewery has become their main stomping grounds.

We are even 2022 and 2023 Forgotten Star Bocce league champions! Don't ask us about curling...it is not our forte. Astra was so small at one point, that she fit in the trophy!

They built quite the community here and even named their dog, Astra, after this brewery. Get it? Astra... Star... Latin... They met Astra at Forgotten Star at a Safe Hands Rescue Event. She has now become a center part of our family: Joining us on our adventures, drinking our beer (and coffee), and late night cuddles.

Here are a couple of places the couple has visited over the years: Banff, Canada, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Winnipeg. They do not plan on stopping their trips anytime soon!

On September 23rd 2023 Sammy and Lizzie attended their annual Utepils Oktoberfest event. This night is always filled with great cheer, great beer, and laughter. Until this point, Sammy had said this is always his favorite day of every year.

This year was different though. It was FREEZING! Not only was it cold, but it was pouring rain. Not just a casual drizzle but a torrential downpour. Sammy's vibes were down. He wasn't his normal "life of the party" self. Lizzie then stepped up her game to make it a night worth remembering! It turned out to be an absolute blast dancing in the rain, kicking around puddles, and screaming Mr. Brightside at the top of their lungs. This was the moment, Sammy decided to finally go out and buy that damn ring.

Not long after, Sammy and Lizzie took a surprise trip to Colorado Springs.

On November 11th 2023 at the Garden of the Gods, Sammy got down on one knee.

He had the whole thing planned out, including a professional photographer! In the weeks leading up to the proposal, Sammy sent many inquiries out to Colorado based photographers -- but Makenzie Grall took the cake.

Sammy had Lizzie's back, knowing what she wanted for this moment. Lizzie literally, and figuratively, had his.

Sammy was so nervous, trying to make this moment perfect, as this was the beginning of their next chapter.
