Elizabeth and Jake matched on Hinge in February 2020. Jake thought she was beautiful and responded to her "controversial opinion" (How I Met Your Mother is a better show than Friends). Elizabeth thought he was cute and enjoyed his banter.
They went on their first date the week after Valentine's Day, where Elizabeth almost canceled on him because she was tired and didn't want to leave her house. Promising herself she would only go for an hour or two, they met at Chelsea's Corner, where the "two hour date" ended up being six hours long.
After three dates in a week, Jake romantically asked, "So are we doing this thing or not?" Elizabeth responded, "Yes, but give me a few days to get my head around it." By this point, this crazy thing called "COVID-19" was making its way around the news. Elizabeth said, "Alright, I guess you're my boyfriend" the Day the World Shut Down.
Quarantine allowed for them to build their relationship quickly, and soon, a kitty named Misty joined them. Two years later, and a year into living together, another kitty named Natsu joined their family.
On May 26, 2023, Jake asked Elizabeth to be his family forever for her 2020 birthday trip to Seattle. Her response, fitting how their relationship started was, "Are you serious?" multiple times, causing Jake to get a little concerned about her. Eventually, he got a yes after the hysterics broke, and they are celebrating joining their lives together on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
