Our Wedding

Liz and Andrew were acquaintances at Hartwick College. They were both in Wind Ensemble and had quite a few mutual friends. Despite all that, they only had a handful of conversations while in college.In the summer of 2010, Andrew and Liz hung out at a mutual friend's house during a party. They ended up talking for a few hours that night, but it wasn't until another party (on Black Friday of 2012) that they really hit it off (at the same mutual friend's house).&nbsp;After that party, Andrew and Liz went on a few dates and met some of each other's friends. On March 3, 2013, after a Matchbox 20 concert in Poughkeepsie NY with friends, they decided to be "officially" in a relationship. :)

The Beginning

After almost a year and a half of dating, Andrew and Liz decided to move south. They had been living/working an hour and a half apart from each other and knew that moving to a place halfway&nbsp;between them wouldn't work well (still would have been a 45 minute commute to work for each of them, crazy high&nbsp;Hudson Valley NY apartment/real estate prices, etc).&nbsp;&nbsp;

So Andrew applied to many different jobs in 5 different cities (in SC, NC, and VA) and chose to take a job that was offered to him in Charlotte, NC. They moved in November/December of 2014 and have loved it! It was one of the best decisions of their lives.





They lived in an apartment in the South Park area of Charlotte for two years before deciding to buy a house in Indian Trail, NC (right outside Charlotte) in October of 2016.

Moving to North Carolina

Liz and Andrew decided to go to Lake Placid over Labor Day Weekend 
of 2016. They had gone there at least once a year since they started 
dating because Andrew's parents have a timeshare there. In March of 
2016, while in Asheville for their&nbsp;anniversary weekend, Liz brought up 
the idea because she missed going since they moved to North Carolina in 
November of 2014. The plans were made and flights were booked that 
weekend. This gave Andrew lots of time to plan the engagement (and Liz 
had no idea)!

On the morning of Saturday, September 3, 2016&nbsp;Andrew and Liz's plane landed in 
Burlington, VT. They stopped at Citizen Cider for 
lunch and a drink before heading&nbsp;to New York via the Lake Champlain Ferry.&nbsp;





















Once Liz and Andrew arrived in Lake Placid, Liz decided to freshen up
 and change, which gave Andrew an opportunity to scout out possible 
places to propose. It was decided that Andrew, Liz, and Andrew's parents
 would all go out for dinner at Adirondack Steak & Seafood Company. 
Finding parking on Main Street in Lake Placid was difficult, so Liz 
decided to stay and help Andrew's mom with finding a parking spot. This 
gave Andrew a chance to go into the restaurant and pick his seat at the 
table/make sure the ring box was in a pocket where Liz wouldn't see it 
during dinner.&nbsp;





















Once dinner was over, Andrew asked Liz if she wanted to walk back to 
the condo. Liz agreed and didn't think anything of it, especially since 
it was something that they usually did when they were in Lake Placid.





















When they got to the corner of Mirror Lake Drive and Parkside Drive 
they stopped to look at the arrangement of flowers that was in the shape
 of a heart. Liz asked&nbsp;Andrew if he wanted to take a selfie with her 
there and he agreed. She took the picture and gave Andrew's phone back 
to him. When he went to put his phone in his pocket he took the ring box
 out and got down on one knee. Liz was surprised as she realized what 
was happening! He asked her to marry him and Liz immediately pulled him 
up to hug him and say yes!





















After the proposal, Liz and Andrew sat under a tree by the flowers 
and talked about all of the details (the planning, the ring, etc).





















You probably think the story ends here - but not quite. The next 
morning, Liz was sitting in the living room, relaxing in her pajamas, 
when Andrew told her that there was another surprise for her. She said 
"what else could there be?!" Andrew led her to the door and told her to 
open it. She opened the door just in time to see her parents come around
 the corner of the exterior of the condo! Andrew had invited them to 
come celebrate and go out to dinner. Liz loved the surprise and everyone
 had a great time at Lake Placid Pub & Brewery. On the way back to 
the condo, Liz's parents got to see where the proposal happened and some
 pictures were taken.&nbsp;





















The rest of the long weekend was spent celebrating and doing various 
things around Lake Placid (shopping in the small shops, a wine tasting, 
games at the condo, etc). Liz and Andrew flew back to Charlotte 
Wednesday morning.&nbsp;





















Lake Placid has always been a fun place for us to go, but now we will always remember it as the place we got engaged! &lt;3
