If You're Not Ready to End the Night, Join Us for the After Party!

The after party is at Lucky Strike Bowling and will officially begin at 11:30 PM.&nbsp; Lucky Strike is a five minute walk from the hotels and is located at 1336 Chestnut Street.We have reserved a lounge area which includes four lanes of bowling, a pool table, a ping-pong table, and other fun games.&nbsp;We are providing snacks and have a pre-paid tab at the bar.&nbsp; Please order your drinks on the prepaid tab first as it is non-refundable.

Philadelphia is what brought us together.&nbsp;

Elizabeth was born a Pennsylvania girl. She grew up loving the Eagles and eating hoagies. Deepak was a citizen of the world, and then fell in love with the city while a student at Penn.&nbsp;





Fate brought us together, as we met in 2017&nbsp;while Elizabeth was spending the summer in Philadelphia working as a summer associate. After our first date, we tried to see each other every day. It was truly love at first sight.





In 2018, the day after Thanksgiving, we took the dog out for a walk in the woods. With snow on the ground, surrounded by nature, Deepak proposed and Elizabeth said yes!&nbsp;





Now we invite everyone to share our joy as we declare our love for each other in front of our friends, family, and colleagues.&nbsp;

Indian Attire

What is proper Indian Attire?

We encourage any guest who would like to wear traditional Indian clothing to do so.&nbsp; So what exactly is appropriate for an Indian wedding reception?

 



First, many guides online will provide advice for proper attire to an Indian temple&nbsp;ceremony, which is more conservative than a reception. Our ceremony and reception on March 7th will not take place in a Hindu temple, and so there will be no need to wear a head covering or take off your shoes.



Second, many Indian clothes are tailored according to a person's measurements.&nbsp; You can purchase "ready-made" clothes, or order clothes pre-tailored.&nbsp; Another option is to purchase the cloth&nbsp;of the clothing and then bring it to a local&nbsp;tailor who is familiar with Indian clothing.&nbsp;



Third, Indian weddings are colorful! We ask that, if you wear Indian clothing, you do not wear black or white (unless you choose to wear traditional veshti).&nbsp; However, any other color of the rainbow is appropriate. Sparkly and gold accents are a plus!



So, what are some examples of appropriate Indian Attire?

South Indian Veshti

*Very traditional, the veshti is a long and wide fabric wrapped around the waist in a particular way.&nbsp;

Long Vest

*The "Nehru" Collar is very popular

Kurta

Salwar Kameez

*This style shows a long, dress-like salwar with leggings

*This style shows a shorter Salwar with baggier pants

Half Saree or Lehenga Choli

*Three separate pieces: top, skirt, and wide scarf. This style does not require special tying.&nbsp;

Saree

*There is&nbsp;a very wide range of styles, both in fabric and how it is tied/wrapped.&nbsp; Putting on a saree is not easy, and will likely require a helper if you are not familiar with wearing one. There are videos online explaining how to wrap a&nbsp;saree, and most people will use safety pins to keep them in place. Sarees include a top, a long wide piece of designed fabric, and an underskirt.&nbsp; If you like the style of the saree, but are concerned about wearing one, a great alternative is the half saree/lehenga choli.&nbsp;

We are providing bus transportation from the hotels to the venue.&nbsp; The bus pickup location is across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe, on 12th Street. It is directly next to the Marriott.&nbsp; For those staying at the Leows, you must cross Market street.&nbsp;
