Our story starts halfway across the world in the Las Vegas of the Middle East. Manama, Bahrain is a city of over served drinks and people letting loose, not the place people go looking for their other half, and yet it was here of all places that we fell in love.

We had both volunteered to sail from the US to Bahrain on the Coast Guard Cutter Robert Goldman. We had spent the next couple thousands of miles becoming friends, making up secret handshakes, and arguing over who the real electrician was.

Being friends was easy and fun, but there was always a feeling that there could be something more if we wanted it enough. Our dear friend Isha ended up being the catalyst that we needed to break the ice and once the ice was broken the rest was history.

We were inseparable after that and two months later we were requesting to be sent to Hawaii together. We did long distance for six months and then we got to officially move in to our first place and adopt two cats.

We might have had to break a few rules to be together but it had always felt like it was a moment too big to miss. As if this life we’re living now would have passed us by and we’d never have known how big and beautiful and wonderful it could be.
