Thomas and Elizabeth met in February of 2017 while on separate ski trips to Breckenridge, CO; introduced by none other than Elizabeth's dad, George. That's another story! At that time, they were many miles apart, with Elizabeth leaving to travel nurse in Tucson, AZ and Tom working in Morocco. Their love of skiing, travel, and all things outdoors kept them connected over the next few years as they moved across the West. Besides saying yes to Thomas, this was the best decision she had ever made, and Tom feels the same way. Over time they developed a close friendship, but it wasn't until 2020 that the relationship became more. In 2021 after finishing up a Covid contract in Boston, Elizabeth decided to take an assignment near Tom in Pittsburgh. After dating for a couple of years, Thomas proposed to Elizabeth on February 4, 2023, on a weekend getaway to Nemacolin. Although this was not Tom's initial plan, Elizabeth thought it was perfect. 2023 was a trying year for the couple as both were dealing with unexpected medical issues. During this time their relationship continued to grow stronger even despite circumstances. The couple recognizes that the past year would have been significantly more difficult without all the love, support, and prayers from each other, their family, and their friends! Fun Facts about the couple:
- Tom and Elizabeth both graduated from Penn State in 2012/2013, although they did not know each other at this time.
- Tom and Elizabeth were both in Beijing at the same time. Elizabeth was there for a study abroad program at Peking University while Tom was there for school to work program. Once again, their paths never crossed.
-Tom and Elizabeth both lived a nomadic lifestyle for multiple years, often prioritizing ski destinations for home-base. The idea of staying in one (non-ski-enabled) location long-term is still stressful for them both lol.
