Liz and Mike met in Corning, New York at the gym Mike was working at. After a month of small talk, one Sunday in June (June 9th to be exact) they went on a hike at the Gorge in Watkins Glen. Liz knew he was a keeper when Mike ended the day with ice cream cones :). They have been going on hikes and eating ice cream together ever since!

In fact, Mike planned his proposal to include one of their favorite things-hiking with their dog, Jones.

Christmas Eve was abnormally warm and sunny. It didn't seem strange to Liz when Mike asked her if she wanted to go for a hike with Jones behind her parent's house, because that's something they do all the time. However, this hike would be extra special because when they got back to her house Mike got on one knee and asked Liz to marry him.
