Devon and Elizabeth met while attending SUNY Delhi located in Delhi, NY. Devon was there working to attain his degree in Electrical Construction and had already completed his first semester of college. Elizabeth, meanwhile, had just started her 1st semester still deciding what she wanted to study so she elected to complete her prerequisites.
Devon and Elizabeth met each other through a mutual friend, Kaitlyn. Elizabeth, who at the time assumed she was un-dateable, was in a panic when she found out that Kaitlyn had invited Devon down to her dorm to meet Elizabeth. Elizabeth tried to sneak away to no success as Kaitlyn blocked the door. Devon and Elizabeth met and the rest was history.
Devon and Elizabeth would go on small dates to get to know each other more. With each date, they got closer. On March 5th, 2014, Devon asked Elizabeth if they were "Facebook Official". As the dating continued, Devon learned quick that Elizabeth was no girly girl as she didn't mind getting dirty and enjoyed being outside as much as he did. Whether it be hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, or fishing, Elizabeth was game. Devon at first rejoiced because he didn't have to worry about buying her fancy jewelry or name brand clothes or any other expensive items because she essentially liked the same things he liked. Over the years, after buying double the fishing gear, double the hunting gear, double the snowmobile gear, and a boat, he has come to realize that maybe being a girly girl may have been cheaper on his wallet.
Devon and Elizabeth share a lot of things in common, but the biggest thing they share is their love for fishing. They love it so much that most of their time off consists on finding something to do that involved fishing. Even though they are fishing partners, they would get competitive with each other. Devon would normally beat Elizabeth with numbers while Elizabeth would beat Devon in size. Some would say that Elizabeth would catch the bigger fish because of skill. No! That is not the case. It all comes down to dumb luck. She has no idea how she does it. After fishing off of Devon's father's boat for a couple of years, they decided they needed to upgrade to a boat that could handle their fishing ambitions. They decided to purchase their own fishing boat. That boat is so important to them, its colors were the inspiration for the wedding colors.
Knowing how important fishing was to Elizabeth, Devon thoughtfully planned and decided that on Saturday, May 26, 2023, he would pop the question on their annual fishing trip to Cross Lake, NY. And of course, she said yes!
Elizabeth and Devon decided to have their wedding up at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel because what's better than two people who love fishing getting married in a fisherman's paradise?
Devon and Elizabeth have lost contact with Kaitlyn since, but both are still grateful to her because if it wasn't for her, this wedding would not be happening.
