Our Wedding

Our love story began on May 15, 2021, at one of our friend’s bonfires. But before we dive into that, we have to share how the universe brought us together. We first met at a friend’s house party in the summer of 2019. My friend had invited me to a luau-themed birthday and police academy graduation party, yes, three parties in one! Nelson was invited by his friend Dodge, who was in the same graduating class. The party was packed with people, and while I don’t remember much from that night, I somehow remembered Nelson’s mustache, everyone knows him for his mustache! Nelson remembers me because some of us at the party ended up doing cheerleader stunts in the backyard, and I was one of the participants. Was I ever a cheerleader? No, but that night, I gave it my best shot! After that party, we crossed paths occasionally at my job. I worked at the hospital (Nashville General aka The G) as a PCT/CNA, and Nelson, being in law enforcement, would sometimes bring in DUIs. I was often the one drawing blood for evidence. One particular night, Nelson had to keep watch over someone, and let’s just say he wasn’t thrilled about it. Despite his attitude, I made it my mission to chat with him. I thought he was attractive, and as we talked, he shared his long-term goals, which I found fascinating. Then he told me his age, 23. At the time, I was 26 and thought, "Nope, he’s just a kid!" Fast forward to May 2021. The Dodge family, who have always been a part of our lives and good friends, invited me to one of their bonfires. I usually declined, either because of work or because they lived so far away. But this time, I decided to go, and that’s how Nelson and I truly started our love story. We officially started dating on June 7, 2021. By August of that year, I already knew he was the one. There was something about our connection that felt so different from any past relationship. That feeling was confirmed on November 5, 2021, when he told me he loved me. Since then, we’ve grown so much together as a couple. We’ve navigated the stress of nursing school, life’s challenges, and even a few vacations together, which has only strengthened our bond. We’re so excited for our future, and we can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you on August 2, 2025, it’s going to be a party!

Liz has been the bride's friend since she believed she was experiencing menopause during her freshman year of college, almost 14 years ago. Each time they get together, it feels like time picks up right where it left off. Her son even shares the same birthday as the bride, creating an everlasting connection between them.
