1. From Sea-Tac Airport (SEA) to Anacortes Ferry Terminal (by car or shuttle):
- Drive: Rent a car at the airport and drive ~2 hours (about 100 miles) north via I-5 N and WA-20 W to reach the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.
- Shuttle Option: The Airporter Shuttle (Bellair Charters) runs between Sea-Tac and Anacortes, but you'll want to check the current schedule in advance.
2. Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor (San Juan Island):
- Board a Washington State Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour, with beautiful views along the way. You can bring your car on the ferry or walk on (there are rental car and taxi options on the island). Drive-on options are around $$ and Walk-on options are around $$.
If you are driving on I suggest booking a month before to reserve a spot. You need to arrive 45 min to an hour before departure. I suggest leaving some room for traffic (we have missed way too many ferries!!). You also must book a return ferry if you are driving on. If you are walking on you can reserve a ticket before, but you can also buy a ticket at the terminal.
You can make vehicle reservations for the ferry here
You can purchase your ferry tickets here
3. From Friday Harbor to Roche Harbor:
- Once on San Juan Island, drive or take a taxi/shuttle about 25 minutes (10 miles) north to Roche Harbor.
- If you’re walking on the ferry, you can arrange a taxi or reserve a shuttle through local services (like ECO Taxi or M&W Auto).
1. Transfer from Sea-Tac to Kenmore Air Terminal:
• Take a shuttle, taxi, or uber (about 30–45 minutes) to either:
• Kenmore Air Harbor (Lake Union in Seattle) – for seaplane flights.
• Kenmore Air at Boeing Field – for wheel plane flights.
2. Fly to Roche Harbor:
• Kenmore Air offers seasonal direct flights (seaplanes) from Seattle Lake Union or Boeing Field to Roche Harbor Marina.
• Flight time is around 45 minutes and offers stunning views of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.
• They also offer flights to Friday Harbor, with a short transfer by car or shuttle to Roche Harbor (about 25 minutes).
Tip: Kenmore Air often includes complimentary shuttle service between Sea-Tac and their terminals – worth checking when booking.
For large groups traveling together, consider chartering a private flight with Kenmore Air to reach San Juan Island at a cheaper price. Kenmore Air offers both seaplane and land plane charter services, accommodating groups of various sizes.kenmoreair.com+1kenmoreair.com+1

We have a room block reserved starting one year out from our wedding date — August 23, 2025. We’ll share all the booking details as soon as it becomes available.
Tip: Roche Harbor books up quickly, especially in the summer, so we recommend reserving early once our block opens!
For those who prefer a more flexible stay — or are traveling with a group — Airbnb and VRBO offer tons of great options all over San Juan Island. From waterfront cottages to forested cabins to modern homes with room for the whole crew, there’s something for every style and budget.
When searching, we recommend looking in or around:
Roche Harbor – Closest to our venue (you can even walk to the wedding if you're lucky enough to snag one nearby!).
Friday Harbor – The island’s main town, about 25 minutes from Roche Harbor, with shops, restaurants, and the ferry terminal.
San Juan Valley / West Side – Offers scenic and peaceful getaways while keeping you within a 15–20 minute drive of the venue.
Tips for booking:
Summer is peak season on the island, so the earlier you book, the better!
Be sure to double-check the distance to Roche Harbor if you’d like to stay close.
Consider car rentals or carpooling if staying outside of Roche Harbor — public transport is limited on the island (But there is a taxi service).

Westcott Bay Shellfish Co. is a charming, waterfront oyster farm tucked away on the quiet shores of Westcott Bay near Roche Harbor. Known for its laid-back vibe and incredible views, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy fresh, locally grown oysters, clams, and mussels right at the source. Guests can shuck their own oysters at picnic tables by the water or simply relax with a glass of wine and take in the peaceful surroundings. It’s one of our favorite places on the island—great for a casual afternoon and a true taste of the San Juans.
Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm is a scenic, family-run farm on San Juan Island, just outside Friday Harbor. Home to a friendly herd of alpacas, it’s a peaceful place to walk the pastures, take photos, and learn about these gentle animals. The on-site Country Store features soft alpaca wool products, handmade gifts, and local goods. It’s a fun, free stop for families, animal lovers, or anyone exploring the island.
Friday Harbor is the charming heart of San Juan Island—a walkable, waterfront town full of character, friendly locals, and stunning views. It’s where the ferry lands and a great place to explore during your stay, with cozy cafés, art galleries, local shops, and delicious restaurants all within a few blocks. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee, browsing for island-made gifts, or watching the boats come and go, Friday Harbor offers a relaxed, small-town feel that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Some of our favorite restaurants are Downriggers and Vinny’s. There are also some coffee shops like Salty Fox Coffee and San Juan Roasting Co. End your trip with a sweet treat from Friday Harbor Ice Cream!
Friday Harbor Whale Watching Co is perfect if you’re looking for a classic San Juan Island experience. Hop aboard for a scenic boat ride through the Salish Sea, where you’ll have the chance to spot orcas, humpbacks, sea lions, bald eagles, and more. The crew is knowledgeable and passionate about marine life, making the trip both fun and educational. Tours depart from the Friday Harbor Marina and are a memorable way to see the island from the water—you might even spot whales!
It all started at the University of Washington—Jack on the baseball team, Ella on the volleyball team, and fate doing its thing in the weight room. Jack may have slid into Ella’s DMs after a chance encounter (who could blame him?). She said no at first... but did ask for a ride to the grocery store. Smooth, right? Jack said yes, played it cool, and even scored an ice cream date. And just like that, the spark was lit.
They spent the next five years at UW cheering each other on from the sidelines, road-tripping across the 520 bridge to visit Jack’s family in Bellevue, and creating a second home for Ella with the warm and wonderful Enger crew. When Ella’s family came to town, they were welcomed in too—one big happy (and loud) family.
Their love story grew over boat days on the lake, spontaneous adventures, and dreamy weekends in Roche Harbor—theirfavorite escape with friends. That little island holds some of their most unforgettable memories.
After graduation, Ella headed overseas to play pro volleyball in France while Jack stayed stateside. Long-distance wasn’t always easy, but they made it sweet—reuniting in beautiful cities around the world and soaking up every simple moment together.
Now, after two seasons abroad, Ella’s back in the U.S. to play professionally—and they’re finally back on the same continent (and time zone!). They’re soaking up every second, planning their wedding, and getting ready to say forever.
