Although Ellen and I both grew up in Fargo and were involved with high school activities, our paths did not cross in our early years. I knew that she was a 3-time basketball and track state champion. However, it appears that my special teams football appearances and crucial off-the-bench minutes in basketball were not enough to leave a lasting impression on her. Oh well, the journey was just beginning.

Ellen and I’s first encounter was in 2016 during freshman orientation at Creighton University where we both attended college. We initially met when picking up our student IDs, but our first real interaction came when I allegedly “invited myself over” to her dorm room later that day to help set up her futon. Attempting to prove my usefulness early on! The picture below is actually from that day. You’ll see me, Ellen, an appearance from Maddy (Ellen’s roommate and bridesmaid), as well as Billy the Bluejay. I think Ellen looks quite similar today as she does in this picture. However, I, as you are likely to notice, have since adopted a more ~follically challenged~ image.
