What should I pack to wear?

- Cocktail attire for the wedding ceremony and reception. It will be outside in the grass, dancefloor is a wood deck outside. - After party (after the reception back at Rob and Michele's house) - feel free to change into something more casual or keep your party attire on! Bride and groom will be changing into something more casual. The plan is to hang out on the porch/dock, watch a HUGE fireworks show, and let the eatin and drinkin continue. For the rest of the weekend, it's totally casual. We are at the lake, and plan to do as many lake activities as we can, so be sure to pack your bathing suit! You do NOT need to bring a beach towel, the houses all have plenty. You can either pack sunscreen, or stop at the store and stock up on your way into town.

What's the weather going to be like?

The internet tells us it's supposed to be high of 80-85 and sunny/overcast on our wedding weekend! This time of year down at the lake is typically pretty nice! Hot enough during the day that a dip in the lake feels great. Not yet the time of year where the humidity is too much, springtime still cools off a bit in the evenings too. We are hoping for sunshine of course, but spring always brings it's showers here and there. In the event we have a rainy weekend, fear not! We are down to clown around inside and play some games, eat some food, drink some drink, etc. Rain won't stop us from having a good time!

Where are we staying? Where will all the fun be?

Cedar Creek Reservoir, southeast of Dallas, Tx. All of our guests are staying in houses at the lake on Edythe Dee Lane in Mabank Texas (where Ellen's parents live). Some of the wedding party folks will stay at the venue on Fri/Sat. Arrangements have already been made for everyone! The houses are all on the same block, within a short walking distance. All of the guests will be congregating at these houses the majority of the weekend (aside from wedding day) as this is where all the lake fun will be!

What's there to do at the lake?

We chose the lake as our destination so we could enjoy all of our favorite lake things with you! We have direct lake access, with a dock and stairs in/out of the water. We also have a speedboat for all your wake surfing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing desires, and jet skis! For any non-speed boaters, we also have kayaks and paddleboards to play with! A floating pad, pool noodles and rafts galore. And finally, plenty of space to lounge around and enjoy the sun.

Can I go fishing?

YES! Our dock is a great spot to fish from, especially in the early mornings. We have plenty of fishing gear for you to use. If you are interested in fishing, you DO have to have a fishing license ($20/day at Walmart in town). Contact Ellen for more details on the license.

Do I need a boating license to jet ski?

If you were born on or after September 1, 1993 you DO need a Texas Boater Education Card!! Everyone else is exempt from this certification. However, all guests interested in driving or riding a jet ski will be subject to taking the in-person Rob Haas School of Water Safety course (which just means Ellen's dad will take you out and show you the ropes and run through all the important safety things). For those of you that need the official Texas certification, you will need to complete an online boater safety course after which you will receive your certification card that you must have on your person while operating a jet ski. You may take the course online, and print your certificate same day. The course takes a few hours, but does not have to be completed in one sitting. You can find more information as well as links to register for the online course here: https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/boater-education

Do I need to bring a lifejacket?

No - the Haas' have PLENTY of lifejackets of all sizes.
