A New Chapter Begins In April 2022, our beloved founder Ellen decided to hang up her apron and pass the ice cream scoop to a new team. Stepping up to continue Ellen's legacy are the dynamic trio — Aaron and Marie Clark, a dedicated husband and wife duo with a fervent passion for the craft, and the award-winning Chef Paul Smith. With their combined expertise and love for artisanal ice cream, Ellen's is poised to soar to new heights while preserving the essence that makes it special.

Pair it with our own homemade brownies, and you have a treat that's truly divine. That's not all — from our baked-to-perfection cookies to our moist carrot cake cupcakes, every dessert at Ellen’s promises a journey of flavors.

P. Joseph Mullins designed the memorial with the names of the soldiers who lost their lives inscribed into the granite of the memorial as well as four bronze sculptures that resemble the different factions that were at war with each other. It’s been 25 years since this West Virginia hillbilly and California city girl followed our dreams of being together and opening a weenie stand along the riverbank of the Ohio River in Lesage, West Virginia. In the fall of 1999, we built a 12x16 building on the land where Sonny grew up and Hillbilly Hotdogs opened its doors for the very first time on September 6, 1999 but then we closed three days later so we could get married - we have renewed our vows over 30 times since! A decade and a half later, we are still crazy in love and still going strong. We have outgrown and upgraded from that 12x16 building; we added two old school buses and we continue to grow more and more every day. We owe our success to all of you thousands of weenie lovers who visit us each and every year.
