Richmond has plenty of things to see and do, including great restaurants, breweries, museums, and shops. We've included a few of our favorite spots below, many of which have played a part in our love story.
Originally a warehouse district, Scott's Addition now hosts many of Richmond's breweries. Some of our favorites are Star Hill, Ardent, and The Veil (which has a great food hall). If you're hungry, check out ZZQ for brisket and barbecue (there's usually a line!), Fighting Fish for sushi, or Tazza for a little bit of everything.
There are many activities in Scott's Addition. Play a game of pool at Don't Look Back, bowl at River City Roll, or play shuffleboard at Tang and Biscuit.
We go to Joe's for breakfast almost every Sunday and our first apartment was right up the street. Carey recommends the Big Breakfast and Eloise's go-to is the BLT with a fried egg. Joe's is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Once you're done, take a stroll around the Fan, one of Richmond's oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods.
The VFMA has many free exhibits, including Paul Mellon's collection of hunt and sporting paintings next to Bunny Mellon's stunning jewelry collection. The sculpture garden behind the museum is a great place to stroll. Many scenes from Hulu's Dopesick were filmed in the museum.
