After getting to know each other for a few months online, Daniel and Elyse had their first date at the Caribou Coffee in Canal Park on December 10th, 2021. Before meeting in person, Dan was pleasantly surprised as to how much he trusted Elyse. Elyse recalls telling her dad how surprised she was that Dan was actually smart. At the time, Elyse was living in her "shack" in Ashland, WI while Dan was an hour away, in Superior. The two of them took turns visiting each other every weekend throughout the winter of 2021/2022. They spent their time exploring both the north and south shores of the Great Lake that spanned the distance between them. Little did they know, this distance of 67 miles would turn into a whopping 607 miles when Elyse started grad school in the spring. This is the long distance relationship that they currently maintain. Dan and Elyse have made many trips, often spontaneous, to the Madison area which is the halfway point between them. When unable to meet in the middle, they spend a lot of time on Skype. Their Skype activities include biking, walking, reading, beach-going, shopping, and watching movies. They both enjoy traveling and are always looking forward to their next trip together. Elyse plans to graduate spring of 2024 and will be moving with her pets, Aspen, Lovey, Angel, and Chanel, to join Dan in Superior after the wedding. They are looking forward to a lifetime of adventures together and are excited for this next chapter in their lives.
