Dumb and Dumber: The Stanley Hotels bar was used as a filming location for the scene where Lloyd waits for Mary Swanson, according to a Facebook post. The Shining (Mini-Series): The 1997 miniseries, which Stephen King produced and co-wrote after being dissatisfied with Kubricks version, was filmed at the Stanley Hotel, which served as the fictional Overlook Hotel. Inspiration for The Shining Novel: Stephen King stayed at the Stanley Hotel, and the experience, particularly his nightmares, served as inspiration for his novel, which was later adapted into the famous film and the miniseries.
