Ema and Aaron met the first night Ema moved into the University of Jamestown dorms. Her freshman roommate, Kamree (bridesmaid), happened to date one of Aaron's best friends, Cameron (groomsman), and when Cameron came looking for Kamree, Aaron had tagged along. They immediately caught each other's eye. That night, Ema even told her high school best friend, Greta (bridesmaid), about the cute guy who she unexpectedly hosted for an hour on her first night of college.

Shortly after, Ema joined Kamree for the preseason football scrimmage that Cameron and Aaron were both playing in. After the game, Ema unknowingly started up a conversation with Aaron's uncle, Nathan, and his cute dog, Sadie. Aaron took notice, and used Ema's interaction with his uncle as an icebreaker to get her number and begin talking with her.

On September 14, 2020, during the brunt of COVID-19, Ema became quarantined as a close contact. Aaron devised a 'socially distanced' first-date by kayaking together on the Jamestown reservoir. Eleven days later, Aaron was enlightened by friends that taking someone on a date did not mean that they were in a relationship, so September 25th, Aaron ended everyone's confusion by officially asking Ema to be his girlfriend.

Three years later (August 3rd, 2023), Aaron surprised Ema early one morning after taking her kayaking by asking her to be his wife. She said YES! They are so excited to share this special day with all of their loved ones and are grateful for all the love and support they have received along the way.
