Where is the wedding ceremony?

We will be eloping and getting married in a private ceremony at a seaside greenhouse in Nova Scotia on November 12, 2024. This is also where we'll be enjoying our honeymoon before coming to Hamilton to celebrate with family and friends.

Where is the reception?

We'll be hosting our closest friends and family at a private reception at The Diplomat restaurant in downtown Hamilton. 43 King William Street Hamilton, Ontario https://thediplomat.ca/

I've never been to a "restaurant wedding reception" before, what can I expect?

You can expect to have lots of fun! We chose a restaurant wedding for a couple reasons. Primarily, we wanted to have a more intimate, cozy and social atmosphere, and secondly, because of the planning convenience of trying to organize a reception in Hamilton all the way from BC. And as an added bonus, the Diplomat's built-in ambiance, decor and in-house exquisite cuisine will give us that intimate and chic vibe we both desire. Although the atmosphere will be more intimate and less traditional, you can still expect a dressed up night out, good food, drinks and music, and an MC directing the festivities with a few short speeches throughout the night.

What's the attire?

Since the reception will be in the evening at a downtown restaurant, formal/evening cocktail attire (suits and dresses) would be appreciated. Dress the same as you would if attending a wedding at a banquet hall.

What time do the festivities begin and end?

The celebration starts at 6pm and we ask that you arrive by then to enjoy the hors d'oeuvres and cocktails being served at that time. The happy couple will arrive shortly after that. Food and drinks will be served between 7pm - 9pm, followed by dancing till 1am. Last call is at midnight. Make sure you take advantage of the photobooth between 8pm - 10pm!

Are we in a party room?

No. We rented out the entire restaurant for the evening so that we can enjoy each other's company in a VIP private event.

Is there assigned seating?

To compliment our cozy and social environment, and to make room for a dance floor and food stations we've chosen to forego a formal seating plan but instead will have cocktail tables and a few smaller tables throughout for those that want to sit for a bit. We're hoping to have most of you up and about mingling and dancing.

Will there be food?

Of course. While we won't be having a sit down, served meal, there will be plenty of delicious food by the Diplomat's own chefs provided throughout the night at buffet and interactive food stations. As well, there will be some late night nibblers to help keep the dancing energy up! This is another reason we chose the Diplomat - for their outstanding food.

Will alcohol be served?

Yes. There will be an open bar with a good variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Last call is at midnight. We ask that you please drink responsibly, and if you drink, don't drive.

Will there be music and dancing?

Of course! We want everyone to get their groove on and spend most of their time on the dance floor dancing the night away.

Where is parking available?

The Diplomat doesn't have it's own parking lot. With the Restaurant being in downtown Hamilton, there is metered parking available on all surrounding streets, and it's free after 6 pm and on weekends. Otherwise, there are several public lots (not free) all around downtown, including one further down right on King William. There are also two large public parking lots available located at 75 and 80 John Street North. Lots are not affiliated with The Diplomat, and rates vary. Carpooling and Uber is always a good option for the night!

Are you registered with any gift registries?

We thank you for enquiring about and considering a gift for our wedding. We really appreciate your generosity. However, we haven't registered for any gift registries. Your presence is the greatest gift we could ask for, but, if you wish to honour us with a gift, we're happy to accept a cash gift that will be put to good use towards our wedding costs. Plus, flying back home to BC would prove to be difficult travelling with gifts, and shipping can be very costly. Thank you for understanding.

When do I need to RSVP by?

We ask that you RSVP via the email you received no later than June 1, 2024. Hoping you can make it!
