Social media is a funny thing. But it becomes even funnier when people ask how you met someone and you use words like "DM" aka for the Boomers - 'Direct Message'. Well, that's where our story begins.

COVID was a weird time. For Emelie, she had gone from living Downtown Toronto for the past 9 years to moving back in with her parents in Oshawa... to then moving back into "Gotham City" (T.O) - where COVID was still running rapid. Brett on the other hand, was moving from his hometown of Windsor ON to the big city of Toronto for work in baseball.

Emelie, with a degree in Sports Media, was approaching the 2021 year with hopes of working her 1st real actual sports job at Sportsnet on set of Blue Jays Central as a Production Coordinator... and Brett, a former Pro, was training kids into the aspiring baseball players they all wanted to be.

Now, back to where Social Media comes into play (no pun intended). Instagram is smart - sometimes smarter than us! The app suggests friends you should follow based off of people you already follow, your interests, etc. So - you can probably guess what happened next.

*Brett followed Emelie in hopes of a follow back. Emelie didn't know this Brett person and did not follow back. Brett unfollowed Emelie.*

After realizing she isn't too good for EVERYONE, Emelie followed Brett. Brett followed back... again.

Brett: "Do you like this game of cat & mouse we're playing Emelie?"

...And the rest was history.

Emelie & Brett had their first date in Brett's studio apartment in East Toronto, sharing steak, green beans and red wine. Fun Fact: Emelie hated red wine until she met Brett - he may have even claimed he was a "wine connoisseur" on their 1st date. The two quickly became inseparable spending all of their time together and eventually after a quick 4 months, they moved out of Downtown and into their 1st place together in Etobicoke. Then from there, back Downtown to Liberty Village... and then after a year and a half, Emelie & Brett bought their beautiful townhouse in Stouffville, in June of 2022. This was what dreams were made of.

Fast forward to March 2023 - on their 2nd Florida trip together joining the Siddall family in Clearwater, Brett proposed to Emelie on Sand Key beach as the sun set for the evening.

A lot of fun, laughs & adventure have been had in between January 2021 and March 2023... but they are most excited for what comes next.
