Houston and Emilee first met in 2019 while she was selling payroll for ADP and he was working for US Bank in Nashville, TN. The branch manager, Linsey, was kind enough to let Emilee in on a little secret of the building, which was the keypad password to get to the bathrooms and separate offices, including wealth management (what Houston did). Houston and Linsey quickly became the sounding board for all of Emilee's (what Houston called) "avoidable dating drama". To this day, he still remembers the names of dates better than Emilee does.Fast forward to May of 2021 when Emilee got her dream job in medical device sales, but there was only one issue. It was based in Knoxville, TN. She didn't know anyone but remembered Houston Sanders from US Bank lived there (because in March of 2020 "working from home" meant Knoxville for him). So, after she moved in August, she texted him, "Hey! This is Emilee Cole. I got a new job and am now living in Knoxville. Can I be friends with your friends?". He replied "Sure".So over the next couple months, Emilee made friends with his friends, who are now some of our best friends.About a year and a half after Emilee moved to Knoxville, she decided to run a half marathon. While they were at the local bar that night, she overheard him say "my girlfriend ran a half marathon this morning and I met her parents last night". So, of course the next day she needed to confirm that's what he said."Well, yeah" was Houston's response. And that is basically the reason an anniversary date had to be made up! Over the last 2 years of dating we have been on countless trips (really, we tried to count and we couldn't!), moved to a new city, adopted the cutest, sweetest dog ever, and without really realizing it, began building a life for the 2 of us. Whether we are on a quick 2 night trip to NYC or at home on a normal Tuesday, we have the most fun with each other. We are truly living the "marry your best friend" advice and we are blessed to have each other!
