My Take on the Relationship

Hi, Kaleb here.

I remember the first time I met Emilee during our school's musical rehearsals (in middle school, mind you). I thought she was pretty cute, but out of my league, being a grade older and all. When I switched over to high school, I learned she had left the school district, so I probably would not see her again.

Little did I know that when I started working at The Warehouse in Marion, she was already there! With the romance of Italian food and the coaxing of a few coworkers, we found out we enjoyed each other's company at work.

After working together for a few months, we went on our first date. To save myself from typing a book, I will just leave it at calling it a disaster. For starters, I accidentally asked Emilee out. And it was more of a date with my best man, Jacob, than with Emilee.

Fast forward two months and I told Emilee that "I didn't want a girlfriend in high school, since we would probably break up in college anyway."

As you can see, neither of these deterred Emilee. She (for some reason) continued to make me feel respected, funny, smart, and valued. She herself was always incredibly quick-witted, intelligent, loving, patient, a boss babe... you get the picture.

The last few years, we have been in and out of college, either 1, 4, or 20 hours away from each other. This let us focus on emotional and spiritual growth in our relationship, since we weren't physically able to go anywhere or do anything about three quarters of the time.

Through the support of her family and mine, her best friends and mine, her roommates and mine, and her church family and mine, we have come to a season where we will join together in our marriage in front of the people we hold dearest.

I couldn't be more excited to finally marry my best friend and continue our journey. I love you, Emilee, and I can't wait for June 1st!
