We met on the first day of our internship in 2018, where our desks for the summer happened to be right next to each other. We quickly realized we both attended Iowa State, had the same major, and that we actually had a class together the following semester. We spent the entire summer chatting over work I.M.! Once back at school, though, we didn’t see very much of each other because we both skipped class too often (sorry, mom!).

In January of 2019, we both went back to work full time at Securian where we, along with only 3 others, went through an 8 week training program. That group of 5 of us were together all day every day, and spent a lot of time together outside of work as well. Slowly, Casey and I started going to happy hours just the two of us, which then became a weekly thing. Finally, Casey decided to ask me on a date! And I said ....... No.

I quickly regretted my decision but was worried it was too late. I tried starting things back up with Casey but he was officially playing hard to get (his words, not mine). Luckily, in June of 2019, we went to a twins game and as I was waiting for my ride home, Casey gave me a kiss and we planned a date for the next day. We had our first official date the next day at Surly, and as they say, the rest is history!
