Emily and Cameron first crossed paths in 2017 at a fraternity-sorority formal at Otterbein University- though not as dates for each other! It was *not exactly* love at first sight... A few weeks later, Cam walked into The Old Bag of Nails ready to start his first day of work, only to find that Emily would be his trainer. Emily made it her mission keep him on his toes- but he never complained! Over time, they warmed up to each other as co-workers, and maybe a little as friends.
One day, Cam invited Emily to join a group for drinks. While they were there, Cam stepped away, and a co-worker, eager to play matchmaker, switched seats, forcing Emily to sit next to Cam when he returned. Apparently, this co-worker was “so tired of hearing Cam ask about her.” Caught off-guard, Emily agreed. At the end of the night, Emily swiped Cam’s receipt and scribbled, “What are you doing after this?” Cam's joking response was a little too forward to say, but Emily agreed to let him walk her home. After a kiss in the rain in the middle of the street, Emily left him at the front door—and then left the country for two weeks. (Whoops!)
Upon returning home, Emily was greeted with flowers and a first-date invite. The next few months were filled with many great adventures together! Emily was accepted into medical school at the University of Toledo, graduating from Otterbein University in 2018. Meanwhile, Cam took on significant leadership roles at The Old Bag of Nails, becoming a key asset to the company. Their paths began to diverge, and with heavy hearts, they parted ways.
Just shy of a year later, Cam and Emily found themselves agreeing to drinks again. Sparks flew, and they quickly realized they could pursue their dreams in separate cities while continuing to grow together. This rekindled relationship blossomed into the beautiful partnership they share today.
In 2022, Emily graduated from medical school and matched in Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky. Cam and Emily moved to Lexington, where they began their next great adventure together.
In 2024, Cam proposed to Emily on a snowboarding trip at Snowshoe, West Virginia. The couple plans to marry on September 13, 2025 in Newport, Kentucky! Through countless adventures and challenges—whether on trails or in life—Emily and Cam continue to fall more in love each day.
As for what's next? Well, that answer will be coming soon...
