What does the 'Black Tie Optional' dress code mean?

A tuxedo dinner jacket and tie or bowtie is preferred. A dark suit and tie is also allowable. Formal gowns, jumpsuits, pantsuits or cocktail dresses are required. Formal dress shoes are required (dress flats in lieu of heels are perfectly fine).

Are children invited?

Children are not invited to the ceremony or reception. We really love your kids, but we want this to serve as a relaxing night off for you.

Can I bring a date?

If your formal invitation says "and Guest", yes! If not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Will I need transportation to and from my hotel to the venue?

Transportation will be needed for guests from church to venue. Hotels are available very close to the venue and church.

How does parking work?

Ceremony: Free covered parking is provided for wedding guests in the 311 West Illinois building, just east of the church. The parking entrance is on Franklin Street. Reception: Parking is available on the south side of the building. This is a prepay lot with no attendant.

Can I take pictures?

We are having an "unplugged ceremony" (no phones or cameras). We want you to be fully present and enjoy the moment as we say "I do". We have hired professionals to capture the moment and promise to share with you as soon as we receive them. Before and after the ceremony feel free to take as many photos as you want!

What will the weather be like for this time of year in Chicago?

September in Chicago typically has a high of around 70 and a low of 60. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will take place indoors so no need to fear the Windy City!
