Josh and Emily met playing in the TYJO (Texarkana Youth Jazz Orchestra) and were friends for years before finally dating.

When Josh finally gave up on waiting around for Emily, he asked her to go on a date with him while she was in San Antonio, TX for the State Marching Band Contest. Their first date was at Raising Cane's which is now a staple in their relationship. Emily remembers Josh freaking out when he arrived at Cane's because he made it there before her. She got at least 10 texts wondering where she was.
