In the Fall of 2018, Jarrod and Emily both started their first year at Goshen College. It wasn't very long into the semester before they both took notice of one another and they dated all through their time in college.

Not only did Jarrod and Emily share a major in school, but they shared many unique experiences such as studying in the Florida Keys, traveling to London, and meeting many of the friends that will celebrate with them on their wedding day!

After four years of school Jarrod found an internship opportunity at the Indiana Dunes National Park, while Emily remained in Goshen to get her teaching license and play basketball. This was their first time being truly long distance for most of the year, but they made it work and continued thriving in their relationship.

In the Fall of 2023, exactly five years after Jarrod first asked Emily out on an official date, Jarrod proposed to Emily with the help of some close friends to make it an unforgettable story!
