We both moved to Saint Louis for medical residency training! Josh for orthopedic surgery and Emily for internal medicine. Emily serendipitously sat in front of Josh during the first day of general orientation and introduced herself. They discovered coincidentally they had moved to the same apartment complex. Josh was awe struck by Emily's outgoing personality and beauty, and knew he needed to get to know her more.

The second interaction took place at their common apartment gym several days into moving to St Louis. Josh attempted to talk to Emily, though unfortunately she was "in the zone" with her headphones and didn't hear him. They made light of this event when they saw each other at a social event later in orientation, and realized they both loved weight lifting. We now always look forward to spending time together at the gym on our days off.

After only knowing each other for a few months Josh brought Emily home to Maine to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family. Emily met Josh's entire family and it was an amazing Holiday. During this trip they realized how much they enjoyed traveling together!

We scheduled trips during all our vacation time and love to travel together. Since starting residency we have traveled to Maine, Mexico, New Orleans, New Jersey, and Nebraska!

No matter what city we are in, our favorite activity continues to be going to the gym... It only made sense we got engaged at our favorite place! Josh had picked up the ring right before meeting Emily at the gym. When leaving Josh knew he had to propose right then and there because he couldn't wait any longer!!
