THE START

We both grew up in Waukee, Iowa, about ten minutes away from one another. But it wasn't until 2018 when both of us were attending Iowa State University in Ames, that we met. Josh was in Delta Upsilon, which was the fraternity that Emily's friends were in. We had been friends for a year before Josh asked Emily on a date. We've had the opportunity to grow up together - Going through our college phases, graduating from Iowa State, finding jobs, traveling, adopting our beloved fur baby, Murphy, and settling into adulthood. Now, five years later, here we are!

THE ENGAGEMENT

We had traveled to Austin, Texas, on what Emily thought was a typical trip to visit our friends. We had booked an appointment to go look at rings at a store there, which our friend was going to take us to. Prior to our appointment, our friend wanted to show us what Emily thought was a popular tourist destination in Austin that was close to the ring store. As Emily was turning to tell them to get going, Josh was on his knee and asked Emily to marry him. We were able to celebrate with some of our close friends for the next few days and again with our families when we got home.
