Our Wedding

I remember the very first day I ever spoke to Alex was at our staff meeting the day after I started my job at WSU. I was sitting by myself waiting to leave, and he randomly came up and started talking to me because I “looked sad and lonely.” Then all of the staff went to a brewery in downtown Dayton where Alex came up to me again and asked if I would be his cornhole partner. I said yes, and we lost both games (not going to point any fingers, but one of us played really well and one of us didn’t). After I got home later that day, I called my mom and told her that this weird guy that works at Wright State kept coming up and talking to me and asked me to be his cornhole partner lol. Fast forward a couple months, and that same weird guy was someone I was excited and nervous to see around work. We were always making some joke to one another and started to bond over our sarcastic, dark sense of humor. He then got invited to go to Vegas with our team for a Christmas tournament. Our connection really took off as we got second-hand smoke in the hotel’s casino from walking in circles and talking about life for 4 days straight. We even ended the trip at a Chili’s in the Vegas airport - very romantic. After the Vegas trip, we began to hang out more outside of work. He was someone I wanted to be around all of the time. I knew he was special, and I knew he was different. He was there for me early in our relationship through some of the hardest times. He is patient. He is supportive. He is kind. He is respectful. He is confident while also giving me confidence in who I am. He is wise. He is hilarious. He shows me an unconditional love that is so easy and so fun. The list goes on and on, but Alex is truly the most incredible human being I have ever met. He is the greatest blessing in my life, and to love and be loved by him is something I thank God for every single day. I am so excited to be his wife and to continue doing life with him forever.

Emily’s Version

First, I did indeed come and speak to her first at a WSU meeting. And it was due to the fact that she sat by herself on a park picnic table. The cornhole conversation may be skewed based off the storyteller but just for the record one of us was in a fraternity, and the other was not. It is up to you to decide who was good and who was not that day. It is likely we will never know. As Emily stated, the Vegas trip is truly where the story begins. I will never forget as we took our 459th lap around the South Point Hotel and Casino we stumbled upon a college bowling tournament. We literally sat there and watched college bowling and laughed about nothing. It was in that very moment where I knew something was different about Emily. Different about us. I knew that I wanted to spend all of my time with her and efforts towards her. Emily spoke about helping her through some difficult times in the beginning of our relationship. She has done the same for me time and time again. The framework of love for me begins with understanding and acceptance. I have never met someone so willing to understand and accept me for who I am quite like Emily. As life goes on, it never ends up precisely as we expected. I know without an ounce of hesitation Emily and I were meant to be together. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever. She is smart, funny, beautiful, caring, energetic, loving, hardworking and so so much more. I am eternally grateful that our paths crossed and am extremely honored to spend the rest of my life with her. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for the both of us - one day at a time.
