It is a truth universally acknowledged, that when one’s life is turned upside down by the unexpected, it is often accompanied by the most unlikely of introductions. For David Nolasco and Emily Cortez, one such introduction would forever change the course of their lives.
Emily Cortez was raised in Southern California but had dreamed of living in the Pacific Northwest - inspired by the misty countryside visits to her aunt and uncle's home in Oregon. David Nolasco, born in Dominican Republic and raised in Indiana before spending a few years in Tennessee, had not considered the Pacific Northwest before his sibling, Gere, and brother-in-law, Kaleb, moved to Oregon and invited him to join them just two months before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown began. COVID ultimately led to Emily moving to Oregon a little while later - invited by her new friends, David's siblings.
David and Emily first became friends by joining Kaleb and Gere on their adventures to the Oregon coast, exploring the city of Portland, and enjoying cozy evenings cooking and playing games together at the apartment. As time moved forward their feelings grew for one another and they began to plan adventures of their own. They made friends and found careers. They tried new foods and explored new places together. They pushed each other to be the best people they could be - whether at the gym, in their relationships, or in their workplaces. But most importantly, they found comfort in one another's company and began building a life together in Oregon. David and Emily's favorite activities together range from exploring new places in the Pacific Northwest to lively debates about music and pop culture, to watching videos together about philosophy and physics. They are excited about what each new year will bring as they embark on their greatest adventure yet - writing each chapter of their new story together.
