Emily and Peyton were fortunate enough to have been in each others lives for many years before their engagement; first as friends, then as a singing duet, and eventually as a couple. Having gone to the same school and the same church, they spent a lot of time around each other, especially since the couple's parents are close friends. Although Emily and Peyton were both interested in each other throughout their early high school years, the moment for them to act on their romantic feelings wouldn't come until much later. In Peyton's Junior year and Emily's Sophomore year in high school, they sang Rewrite the Stars together (with Tumaini Sango playing piano) for their high school's end of the year music event. That would mark the first of many times that they would end up singing together. After graduating, Emily and Peyton saw less of each other but continued to talk at church until COVID shut everything down. Despite this, they texted and called consistently until eventually confessing feelings for one another. This led to them impatiently waiting for lockdown restrictions to be lifted so they could officially start their relationship. Once places opened up again and they could have dates in person rather than over FaceTime, it quickly became apparent to both of them that they were meant to be together. It was only a matter of months before they knew they would become husband and wife, but they agreed to wait until they had both graduated college, and they ended up getting engaged around four years into their relationship. Peyton proposed on August 3rd, 2024 at the Olive Shores beach, where Emily immediately and joyfully said yes. They are excited to write the rest of their story together, and will be each other's biggest supporters throughout that journey.
