Our Wedding

From Emily: We met under ✨special✨ circumstances, iykyk. We became friends over the course of a year, and had no intention of things becoming romantic between us. One night, Cadyn was watching me get ready for us to go out together with our friends, I had no idea at the time what was going through his head. He was thinking to himself “this is what I pictured my life to look like, my wife getting ready while we chat and cut up.” Fast forward a couple of months and Cadyn and I got really close as friends, I didn’t know why but when I was down, it was him I wanted to call and see. After dodging me SEVERAL times, he finally gave in and started coming around a lot more. One night we were sitting in the car just talking and trauma dumping on each other, Cadyn tells me now that in that moment all he could think about was kissing me. Shortly after, I left town for a cruise, on the cruise I remember Cadyn popping into my head several times. It was then I knew I had “more than friends” feelings for him. When I got back, I decided I would tell him. I was so nervous, but to my surprise, the feelings were mutual. However, in the beginning, we both felt we weren’t ready for anything serious, so we decided we’d see each other casually. Turns out, there was no casual between us, we fell for each other- fast and hard. On our first date to see the show TEXAS, I told Cadyn I thought I was in love with him, and he said “I almost love you”. For months after that rather than telling each other I love you, we would always say “I almost love you.” Finally, I told Cadyn I felt really ready to be a girlfriend and we made it official. Cadyn and I have been through so many ups and downs, we have truly carried each other through some of the darkest times in our lives. We have fought, argued, broken up even, but I believe this story was meant to happen. We have done so much growth personally and together and I feel there is nothing we can’t overcome. He is my rock, my life partner, my best friend and the love of my life. I love you baby- Emily From Cadyn: Where to even begin? Emily and I met through mutual friends and acquaintances at Starbucks. We were casual friends that said hello in the drive in, and took time to talk to one another when we were at the same event. I always thought Emily was funny, smart, bold, brave, and very attractive. I wasn’t in a very ideal place in my life so a relationship wasn’t in the cards for me. The first time I spent time alone with Emily, I felt a sense of familiarity that I couldn’t pin point. She was getting ready to go out with our mutual friends and even though we didn’t know each other very well she suggested that we go together. I remember watching her put on her make up while she was singing a Miley Cyrus song. Every time I would try to yap over her she would restart the song all over. I looked at her and thought to myself “this was what I would have pictured in a wife.” I had no idea what the future held for us at the time. It felt like an innocent thought. I had no desire to pursue her due to my circumstances so I kept it to myself. The second time we were alone she asked me to meet her outside my apartment complex to talk. We hadn’t had many conversations before. We barely knew each other, but it felt like I was talking to someone I’ve known my entire life. She kept saying how she had to go but kept talking to me anyway. I had an overwhelming urge to kiss her. I didn’t. I stepped out of the car walked briskly upstairs to my apartment and locked the door as I slumped down to the floor. I had never experienced something like this before. How could I be so drawn to someone I barely knew? I was in no position to pursue her. Besides, at the time, I didn’t think she would think a goofy guy like me is attractive. I was going to avoid being alone with her at all costs. I would not allow myself any opportunity to. One night she texted me. She had gotten some devastating news and I could tell she needed someone. I had been avoiding her attempts to hang out but I wanted to be there for her. As I drove to her apartment I asked myself “why did she call me? She has plenty of other people to call. What’s so special about me?” We spent the whole night (until her curfew) talking. The more we learned about one another the more the uncovered how similar our lives have been. The number of times we should have come into contact with one another or shared experiences at the same ages. We were vulnerable with each other and I was grateful that she asked me to be there. Fast forward, I’ve still been dodging her attempts to hang out alone. I always made sure another person was there. My birthday rolls around and that is the only time of the year that I partake in drinking alcohol. Under the influence of liquid courage, I ask Emily for a kiss. She obliged and I wanted more. I looked her in the face and said “I had a dream about you.” She laughs and says  “I’ve had a few about you” before leaving the party. About two weeks later I had another dream about her. I hadn’t planned on saying anything until I saw her photos that she had posted from her cruise. I remembered what she had said at my party and decided to inquire about her dreams about me. She avoids answering the question but instead says that she’s had a crush on me for a while. I immediately go into panic. How could she like me? There’s many reasons why she shouldn’t. (I didn’t have any self worth then but that guy definitely had his red flags) Despite my judgement i decided to go for it. Emily and I never expected to fall in love. The expectation was casual but life never goes according to plan. I was falling for Emily, hard. I fell flat on my face as everything in my life fell apart. Emily chose to love a very broken man. A man that she did not break herself. She saw value in me that I couldn’t see in myself. I was being loved in the way that I love. When the roles were reversed I chose to love her too. I wasn’t perfect. Neither of us were. We fought, said hurtful things, and brought out the worst in one another. We broke up a few times. I’ve had to do a lot of self reflection, taking accountability, self love, and learning how to communicate better. I had to show empathy even in the things I didn’t understand. I learned how to set boundaries and do things that spark joy independently. As cheesy as it sounds, I had to lose her to love me. I used to quote one of my favorite musicals Rent with “I’m looking for baggage that goes with mine” Emily taught me what that truly meant. I’ll never take on her baggage, and she won’t take mine, but we will always help unpack. It’s truly rare to find someone who not only wants to grow old with you but grow as individuals so we could be better together. Much like learning out to skate, learning how to love someone takes patience, persistence, and lots of falling down. As long as she’s willing to get back up my hand will be outstretched to help her back up. I couldn’t have asked for a better woman to stand by my side. I am happy when I’m without her but I am happiest when I am with her. To wrap up this novel I’ve made (and believe me this is condensed) I am so excited to have Emily as my wife and Kane as my bonus kiddo. I love our beautiful little family. To Emily, you’re my other half, the most beautiful girl in the world, an incredible mom, so talented, thoughtful, and my favorite person. Bubba and Cadyn met in Amarillo when Bubba was promoted to Assistant Manager. Throughout their time working together Bubba encouraged Cadyn to advance in his career. Cadyn attributes some of his success at work and outlook on life to Bubba. He’s made a huge impact on Cadyn and they have become great friends.

You are more than welcome to book a hotel! However, we are getting married at a large Airbnb with enough room for up to 40 people to lodge, plus, we want to spend the whole weekend with everyone we love! The fee for this will be $150 per person. This price includes: lodging for 2 nights, dinner on Friday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on wedding day, and breakfast on Sunday morning before checkout! We will be considerate of dietary restrictions and preferences. Check in will be anytime after 4 pm on Friday, September 26th and checkout is by 10 am on Sunday, September 28th. Keep in mind, this price is very reasonable in comparison to independently booking a hotel and food costs!
